As I understand it: (Partly quoted from a reply by Mazkolain earlier)
Spotimc depends on an embedded proxy server that acts as a bridge between XBMC and the spotify API, serving track and image data through http. The proxy should try to listen on the first free port between 8080 and 8089, but there is an identified bug where it will sometimes not detect that port 8080 is in use and will start on 8080.

The XBMC webserver also runs on port 8080 by default, but that is usually detected correctly.

I think it is easiest to change the SabNZBd port in your case (and change the reference in sickbeard, etc). We still have to look at the proxy to figure out why the detection fails now and then.

I am a bit intrigued as to what causes this behaviour, because I run several webservices on my machine on ports 8080, 8081, 8082 and 8083 (including sabnzbd, sickbeard, couchpotato etc) but in my case the spotimc proxy always figured out a correct port when starting.

Hi Kibje,

thanks for your feedback! I missed that post from Mazkolain. Next time I'll try to search better :-)
You're right. The easiest will be to change the ports of SANnzbd. I use the port 80 for XBMC, so maybe that's why the port 8080 isn't detected by spotimc.

No problem! I don't blame you for not finding it, it was in a reply to one of the issues on github Wink

Thanks for bringing the issue it to the attention again!

Could you implement the possibility to skin spotimc so that it checks in skin folder first to look if some xmls are made available by the skin? could imagine to do that if i find some time.
Cheers

Of course, this check should be trivial.

Anyway, I can't understand the purpose of doing this. Perhaps limiting the patching done by Spotimc to a certain "safe" file?

If you set the plugin to startup with the Playlists, it crashes during startup. Starting with New Stuff works.

It's a wonderful plugin/script but the Premium sub is €10 a month!!! I don't listen to that much music mate. Pity the unlimited option at €5 doesn't work.

Spotify does not allow you to use the API without a premium subscription.
Would they ever allow that, it would be trivial to implement it.

*double post, because of mobile browser fail*

RE: [RELEASE] Spotimc: Another Spotify music addon - VanZan - 2012-12-30

I heard you the first time! Smile I'm going to go with the infinitely inferior yet much much cheaper grooveshark plugin. Your script is light years ahead but I can't afford €10 a month on music (I'm not really an ardent audiophile. I like the odd number one song here and there only). Maybe spotify might allow the unlimited sub to work with their api? You're losing customers guys!

don´t really understand. do you often have to change the skin files?
Would be nice if i could make it look like all other windows / dialogs in Nox so that it doesn´t feel like a different program.

You might want to tell Spotify that =), and ask them to make the API available for non-paying customers.

I have Spotify Premium as a year-subscription and I didn't pay a lot for it, because they had a discount offer at one time. Now that I have this plugin and all my playlists are available from within XBMCbuntu I will probably pay the full amount as soon as my year ends. I have started playing music through spotify almost every day, it's funny how fast you can get used to the software. I also play my (offline downloaded) playlists from my phone when I need to travel
.
Also it's not my script. Mazkolain did all the hard work, when he saw that Spotify offered access to their service through an API for paying customers (it really is an added bonus) and decided to build an xbmc plugin.
I just try to help around by answering questions here Blush

We really need to know more about your system, please link to a debug log. Is it reproducable? Does it happen again after a reboot?
Spotimc patches some skin files so it could be an incompatibility with the skin you use. Have you tried using another skin ?

I think you could do that by editing the skin files in the plugin. Just have a look, you'll find em easily.

RE: [RELEASE] Spotimc: Another Spotify music addon - kitchenboy - 2013-01-04

Just read through most of the pages in this thread.

I have an ATV2 with XBMC (currently EDEN) - If I read through all the recent posts, this is not currently a working configuration?

If there is something I can do to help with development - I am game to try. I saw an earlier post where someone was going to start looking at this but then I did not see anything else after that.

If you can let me know what I need to get started and where to start, I will gladly take a crack at this.

I would start by reading this post by Mazkolain: https://github.com/mazkolain/spotimc/issues/56
Good luck!
