Problem with favorites for sports stuff - Ovokx - 2012-03-12

Hi,

I'm trying to create my own menu & submenus for all my NBA stuff, but I have 2 problems.

The first one is that I have added as favorite my folders 'NBA', 'All-Stars', etc in order to manage them as you can see on the next pic:

But when I enter on them through this shortcuts, all the info is missing (posters, logo, text, fanart, etc):

If I enter through the normal TV Show section, all the info is showing up correctly:

What am I doing wrong? Confused

My second issue/question is: Is there any option to hide from the TV Show all this stuff? I would want this accessible only through the menu/submenus created by me in order to avoid duplications.

Thanks a lot for your help! Smile

1. How did you create your submenus? Are they playlists, or favorites?

2. As far as I know it's not possible to hide these from your TV Shows menu, but what you can do is make a "fake" TV Shows menu item that will see every TV Show but not any of your sports.

First make sure all of your sports files have something in common with each other but not with your regular TV shows. Maybe create a genre called "NBA."

Create a smart playlist that ONLY includes genre=NBA, then create another one that excludes any files where genre=NBA.

Then create a custom menu item called "TV Shows" and link it to the 2nd smart playlist I described. Link your custom NBA menus and submenus to the 1st smart playlist.

Granted, this is a workaround, but I've done this with similar things and had success. It might even magically fix your disappearing info/thumb/fanart issue (not likely though)!

They are different folders marked as favorites

I'll try this solution. Thanks! Wink

No problem. Keep us posted, as I'm curious how this turns out. I've done similar things on a smaller scale, and eventually would like to do something like the great job you've done with my own sports files.

Also, the playlists thing may in fact solve your disappearing info/art issue after all, as I've read elsewhere that there can be some issues with favorites being a little weird. As I mentioned, the playlists have worked for me without a hitch so far.

In case you haven't seen it, here's a link to the Smart Playlist wiki page, which is useful because it gives lists of available fields and operators. Good luck!

tested your solution regarding using Smart Playlists instead of Favourites and everything goes perfect!

Thanks again for your help on this issue Smile

Ovokx,

Where did you get that awesome backdrop of all those jordan pics. You make it?
Can I get it?
