how do you connect your NAS to the atv? Will it make the connection via xmbc or can you get it connected rough the atv stock software without an iTunes servers?

Via XBMC

Unlike iPad3, ATV3 jailbreak NOT a slam dunk - smitopher - 2012-03-20

Undecided ATV3 jailbreak does not look like it will be automatic. From MuscleNerd's twiter
Quote:Irony: Apple's least expensive iOS device (yesterday's new AppleTV3,1) will likely be the most secure of the bunch
Quote:the ATV has only a fraction of the software infrastructure of the other devices...the attack surface is much smaller
Quote:the only reason ATV2 is still jailbreakable is geohot's limera1n bootrom exploit, which doesn't apply to ATV3
Quote:it's not really extra effort, it's just unfortunate side effect of ATV having almost none of the software features of the others

Sweet I knew they'd do the whole job. WiFi is Broadcomm BCM4330. Updated first post with a link to them, and the 4330.

Thats what I was saying earlier..Sad I'd follow nitotv too http://twitter.com/#!/nitotv

"fairly certain most of the exploits found (minus the untether) can apply to atv3"
and
"without a bootrom exploit the injection vector is very tricky on the appletv"

I am being hopeful and deciphering this as the current exploits will work less the untether(which if you have done a ATV before a tethered boot is awful, much rather do a phone or a pad) and that further exploits down the road will be tough without a bootrom exploit ala greenpoison,so we will be stuck on current software rev for potentially a long time. Probably hugely important to apply a patch to disable automatic updates, if we do get a jailbreak soon. Really without a browser and all the exploits that go with it, it is going to be tough for future software updates, we were really spoiled on ATV2 by geohot's bootrom find.

RE: [Apple TV 3] ATV3 Teardown - ttd96 - 2012-03-20

anyone knows if the atv3 supports HDMI-CEC?

RE: [Apple TV 3] ATV3 Teardown - phiberoptik - 2012-03-20

more than likely no

This: http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/19/2012-apple-tv-hands-on/ would indicated no CEC(see what's missing section)

Another observation. Reviewing some pictures on the net of the A5 in ipad2 and i4s, it looks like this A5 core is different size. http://twitter.com/#!/nerdtalker

i4s: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/JCcASd1O1i2jQnOe.huge
ipad2: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/TDFSJ2GbSIUPs1lv.huge (don't look at the red/orange box but the die)

Using a ruler and fuzzy math along with this image of first A5: http://compare-processors.com/forum/map.php?news the ATV3 die "could be" the exact size if you removed an arm core and associated logic. Maybe a single core, not a dual core with one core disabled as we have speculated? On the flip side there is internet chat I see that says this is the same CPU on iPad 2,4, and that has to be dual core. Interesting wonder what's changed then if not an ARM core.

Contrary to muscle nerd, atv3 has been jail broken I am another.

tdhz77> How did you jailbreak your AppleTV 3?

RE: [Apple TV 3] ATV3 Teardown - Roelio - 2012-03-20

Got my eyes on this device for some while now..... If it JB's and let XBMC to run perfectly 1080P content, it will be awesome !!

MuscleNerd didn't say ATV couldn't or wouldn't be jailbroken. Instead he was just commenting on why it is harder to jailbreak. Or at least that is my interpretation.

More importantly though, could you explain more about your atv3 jailbreak?
