Me too Sad It really sucks, as I quite like a lot of the new Eden features, I too, get regular crashes when skipping around video file, and sometimes it'll just crash when doing nothing.

I know it's not a solution, but, have you tried to set the loglevel to 1 in advancedsettings.xml?
For me, It went from crashing almost with every video to get a crash once in a month.

It doesn't work for me. Setting loglevel to 1 does nothing and I still get a crash.

I can't believe this is still an issue. Devs need to get their head out of their ass and fix this.

Only solution is downgrade to Dharma.

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - kricker - 2012-06-28

If it still happens for you with debugging enabled, how about you get your head out of your ass and post your log. It isn't like the devs don't care. So far the logs haven't given any real information on why it is happening. The more logs they can get, the better the chance it can get figurd out. Your also more than welcome to dive into the code yourself to fix it.

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - WiSo - 2012-06-28

If possible get one of the current nightlies from here http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/ and make it crash that it creates a dmp file.
We need that from a current nightly as we need the exact same pdb file which was produced with that build.

Nightly installed and crashed, but no way to find the dmp file.
Where it's supposed to be created?

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - jfalvarez - 2012-06-28

Crashed again. No dmp file to be found, but this time the xmbc.log shows a "unhandled exception" just before crashing.

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - kricker - 2012-06-28

I found the dump right next to the xbmc log file in the past If I remember correctly. Or, maybe it was in the root of the XBMC installed folder.

Damn this bug. Now I can't make a nightly or even the Eden release crash at all. I've skipped 100 times all over different files and it just won't crash, even without debuggin enabled.

Crashed again with admin rights, and still, no dmp file anywhere on my hard drive.

The only information I can add to the issue is:
At WER (Windows Error Reporting) folder this time I found a report about XBMC last crash.
Same information as allways, but this time something caugth my eye:

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - kricker - 2012-06-28

Thanks for the effort. The more information the better right now I believe. I just can't get the dang thing to crash anymore.

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - lucid - 2012-06-30

Hi guys, I think I found a temporary solution.. or at least a way to prevent it until it gets fixed.

For me, I noticed that XBMC started crashing more often when I set the Volume Amplification higher. Especially when I skipped backward using the small step back.

So I set the Amplification back to 0,0 dB and did the same with Volume. Now it doesn't crash anymore. This is just my experience.. and maybe it will help the devs to narrow it down. Please let me know if it helped anyone else.

I'm on a Win 7 x64, Intel Core i5 / HD 3000

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - AbRASiON - 2012-07-01

Problem recreated, continues to be due to skipping around manually in files primarily, it's like the buffering is screwing up.
This time, a DVD rip (VOB) files. :/

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - debennett2 - 2012-07-06

This problem is EXTREMELY frustrating. It's a glaring issue that makes it impossible to put this on a production PC and have any kind of WAF....

RE: XBMC Eden crashing - jubilex - 2012-07-16

I've had this problem with every version of XBMC since I came back to XBMC from Meedios a year or so ago. Too many skips, crash. Others have given the details enough that I don't think mine will shed any new light, just wanted to make it clear that for me I had the identical problem before Eden as well.
