They can come with various adapters depending on the reseller. I would go with the 90W package from short-circuit.com.

No boot at all? Do you have another PSU to test? The cooler fan don't spin? try to reset it.

So my build was running fine for a few months with the stock psu until I decided to try gaming. After a few days of a few sessions the unit started to reboot automatically.
Sometimes during a game, sometimes when watching a youtube video.

I am going to get the picoPSU as suggested. I saw one on Amazon, can you guys confirm if it will work as well?

The one on ebay is 54$
http://www.ebay.com/itm/picoPSU-90-12V-7-5A-90W-AC-DC-switching-adapter-combo-/120988750412?pt=PCA_UPS&hash=item1c2b7dd24c

Amazon is 49$ (and i get free shipping).

I did notice that the amazon one says 80w Adapter while ebay says 90w. Will this make a difference?

Also, how hard is it to install one of these?

Thanks

I would get the 90w brick... just to be on the safe side. Get the one from ebay. Because it does hit about 80W when it spikes... so 90w to be safe. I been using it with no problems and I have the same one turned on 24-7 going strong all day on my desktop.

Easy as pie... to install.

Thanks - ordered.

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - g8m3r - 2012-09-27 02:55

So while I am waiting for the new brick, I was moving some of my cables around when I noticed that my case was burning hot. Top/bottom/back all super hot.

I have been running it for 3 months now without any issues (except for the brick problems) but I never really paid attention to how hot my case is.

I have it positioned inside my cabinet like this:

The temps seem ok? so should I be concerned and perhaps move it to the top of the cabinet? Not much ventitation in the back may be causing the problem?

I would try running on top and just see how the temps compare.

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - Beer40oz - 2012-09-27 06:25

I would move it up... you are obstructing the holes for the ventilation. I use the bracket it came with.

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - asqwanka - 2012-09-28 14:03

Ive been reading a lot on this forum the last few week, and it has both been extremly informative aswell as confusing Smile

After giving it some thought, ive finally decided my first HTPC should be like the A6 pack, but with just a little bit of tweaking (also because certain parts are easier to get than other for me).

So here's what ive been thinking, prices are the ones i get from my local hardwareshop, not amazon or newegg because they dont ship electronics to my country)

[CASE] Antec ISK 300-150 (100 €)
[CPU] AMD A8-3870K (105€) (or i might still go for the the AMD A6-3500 (70 €)
[MOBO] ASRock A75M-ITX (83€)
[MEMORY] Kingston HyperX 4 GB DDR3-1866 Kit (33€)
[SSD] Crucial CT064M4SSD2 64gb (80€)
[CPU cooler] Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B (38€)

So that would make €439

(Did I forget something?)

A few questions:
1. Im getting the 300-150 case because i cant get the 65 anymore. But I figured that if I got this, there wouldnt be a need to buy the recomended picoPSU, or am I wrong here?
2. CPU, Ive been going back and forward between the A6-3500 and the A8-3870K, but Im thinking of going with the a8 because of the better graphics. Or will the A6 be sufficient for 3d output and be futureproof aswell?
3. SSD, ive read that a crucial is the SSD to get atm? I think it's a bit expensive for 64gb but if it's the best then...
4. What remote should I get?
5. I want to use this in combo with a nas (thinking of the synology ds213), will I be able to use this HTPC as a plex server with on the fly transcoding aswell? (it wont be on all the time, just occasionally)
6. Is it still possible to install a bluray drive in this mod afterwards? It's not a priority for me, but it might be something id like in the future.

Thanks a lot for the shitload of information on this forum allready, and I hope you can help me get trough these last dilemma's Smile

Ps: I didnt want to open a new topic because the build is so similar to the example in this topic, I hope thats not a problem here?

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - Beer40oz - 2012-09-28 16:30

The Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B won't fit in the 300-150 case because of the power plug.

(you can use the stock cooler and see if you like it CpTHook runs the 300-150 with the stock cooler)

If all you need is to stream vids even 3d then just get the a6-3500 less heat also......

Yes you can install a CD drive.

So you should be fine with the 300-150 and the stock cooler a6-3500 .........

It's getting hard to find the 300-65 case .....

If you really want the Shuriken maybe down the road... then just buy a picoPSU and replace the stock PSU.

I am in the works to build a new "A6-PACK - 150" for a friend. Big Grin It's going to be nice to compare it with mine.

This is a bad combination.......A6-3500 will be a better APU for Antec ISK case.....

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - asqwanka - 2012-09-28 16:56

Allright, thanks for the feedback!

So what im reading here is:
[CASE] Antec ISK 300-150 (100 €)
[CPU] AMD A6-3500 (70 €)
[MOBO] ASRock A75M-ITX (83€)
[MEMORY] Kingston HyperX 4 GB DDR3-1866 Kit (33€)
[SSD] Crucial CT064M4SSD2 64gb (80€)
= 366€

And what about the AMD A6-3650 instead of the A6-3500 ? Since it's only 10€ more. Or does it have heatissues aswell?

No A6-3650... its 100W...

also can you get this RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148559

just a big fan... and in bios just set it to 1866 and everything else is done for you correctly...

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - asqwanka - 2012-09-28 17:50

Allright, good point. So stick with the a6 3500, why change a winning team anyway Smile

I found the ram but the cheapest I can find will cost me about €60 including shipping (sites like newegg and amazon wont send electronics to Belgium because of taxes and stuff). Is it worth that extra cost?

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - Beer40oz - 2012-09-28 17:56

Oh ok... well if you can afford the ram then yes... if not then stick to kingstone... you will be fine. It's just preference... I am a crucial guy. And I did play with the kingstone ram and I prefer the crucial. Like I said because of bios...

On the kinstone you have to change it to right voltage and the speed and something else I forgot...

crucial just the speed from what I recall to 1866 and the command rate to 2T from 1T in bios.

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - asqwanka - 2012-09-28 18:08

I can afford it, but I like getting the most bang for my bucks.

Edit: my bad! I was looking at 8gig instead of 4, so I can get it at 40 wich is decent Smile

So right now im at this build:
[CASE] Antec ISK 300-150 (100 €)
[CPU] AMD A6-3500 (70 €)
[MOBO] ASRock A75M-ITX (83€)
[MEMORY] Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1866 (40€)
[SSD] Crucial CT064M4SSD2 64gb (80€)
= 373€

Looks good? Now its pretty much the build as it was so I think I can safely order this and start building my first HTPC Smile

RE: Antec ISK 300-90 picoPSU HTPC A6-3500 Very Silent! - Beer40oz - 2012-09-28 19:01

Yes great asqwanka!

I will be building the same set-up.... Smile because I am having trouble finding the 300-65 case and would like to try the stock PSU in the 300-150.

A6-PACK!!!!!!!!!

Cheers!
