Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - Sdpbc - 2012-04-08 So I've been debating whether to wait for the new ATV3 to come out, but kept thinking I wouldn't mind trying my hand at an HTPC build capable of bitstreaming audio when needed. Was thinking of going with Win7 and XBMC. Here's what I'm thinking: [CASE] Silverstone Sugo SG06B http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/217735/Silverstone_Technology/SG06B/ [MOBO] ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe Mini-ITX AMD A75 Fch FM1 DDR3 http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=16950BD8364&vpn=F1A75-I%20DELUXE&manufacture=Others [CPU/GPU] AMD A6-3500 http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=10360BD9300&vpn=AD3500OJGXBOX&manufacture=AMD [RAM] Kingston HyperX Plug N Play 4gb 1866 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104263&nm_mc=OTC-sho6b0tCA&cm_mmc=OTC-sho6b0tCA-_-Memory+(Desktop+Memory)-_-Kingston+HyperX-_-20104263 Was also going to go with a fanless PicoPSU per Eskro's Pico thread and pull out the PSU in the Sugo, and a 32gb SSD drive to start, maybe add a bluray drive down the line. I like the fact that the MOBO comes with a remote to turn it on/off and a keyboard, as well as WiFi. I want this thing as silent as possible. A few Qs: 1. Is the above all compatible (hey, I'm brand new to this!) 2. Is the memory overkill? Was also looking at http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=12410BD2815&vpn=KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4GX&manufacture=KINGSTON . 3. Am I missing anything critical! Fan? 4. Can the cost be cut down a bit. Cost isn't a huge concern, but not really into wasting money if I don't need to! 5. Assistance re: cables I'll need? I was also considering a Wesena case, but shipping is $37 alone, and may not include the duties, etc. from the US (real PIA!). I just really like the look of this case.. http://www.shop.perfecthometheater.com/HTPC-ITX7-Black-Mini-HTPC-aluminum-chassis-HTPC-ITX7-B.htm Thanks! RE: Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - bluray - 2012-04-08 Great CPU, mobo, ram and case selections.....! I bet that it will be very quiet by setting operating temperature to 50 degrees in bios....Silverstone case is very high quality, and components (case fans/psu) in it are good quality too. You'll be very happy with your selections....! RE: Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - eskro - 2012-04-08 big case for tiny hardware RE: Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - Sdpbc - 2012-04-08 Yeah, that's what I keep thinking. Any smaller cases out there that look good (I know, personal thing) with USB 3.0 on the front? Seems a lot to spend $120 and get 2 2.0 USBs. RE: Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - eskro - 2012-04-08 hard to say,,, check in my HTPC guide,,, link in signature,,,, in second post, i list many known mini ITX cases... happy shopping RE: Considering this build...Sugo SG06B - bluray - 2012-04-08 (2012-04-08, 19:48)Sdpbc Wrote: Yeah, that's what I keep thinking. If you have room, the bigger case provide better airflow and more room to upgrade too....... |
