RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - Dirki - 2014-07-26

OK, I thought, if you could choose a movie in MC and just start it from there in XBMC wouldn't be bad, so you would not have to search for the movie in XBMC again after choosing it in MC. Yes, at the moment I have VLC selected. Alright, many thanks.

While we have XBMC Link, designed to syncronise movie list in MC and XBMC, this is experimental, and the only function where Media Companion and XBMC talk together.

These letters - ä, ö, ü, ß - seem to make some problems, MC (often or always) does not find movies with titles containing these letters, so e.g.: http://i.imgur.com/VWZFSTy.png

Title is:
Sein Mädchen für besondere Fälle (1940).nfo
Sein Mdchen fr besondere Flle

The correct movie: http://i.imgur.com/D9XDygz.png

And here, after the bracket is something wrong, also in the column left side: http://i.imgur.com/H7ML8eG.jpg

Is there anything I could do?

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - vbat99 - 2014-07-27

Scraped successfully for me using
Code:
Sein Mädchen für besondere Fälle (1940)

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - Dirki - 2014-07-27

Many thanks, vbat99,

Is there anything I could do to let it automatically be scrapep successfully with me?

Thanks again.

post a link to a screenshot of your folder structure. Might also be an idea to get your config.xml file.

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - Dirki - 2014-07-27

Sorry, which folder structure? The movies are stored in? Just one Folder with all of the movies in. But if I get samples, images with the movies I sometimes keep the folders and so there is a subolder for the movie and images.

Or do you mean the structure of MC? Which config.xml? Whatfor?

Sorry for my bad understanding.

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - vbat99 - 2014-07-27

@Dirki

Sign up for Codeplex site, and create an issue. There you can attach your config.xml file from your Media Companion, Settings folder.
Also, in Explorer, open you the tree to show your folder structure for movies, only has to be a few to get an idea, and also attach to the issue on Codeplex site.
Medai Companion's Codeplex site.

(2014-07-20, 06:06)vbat99 Wrote: Could you please make sure the Assets folder within Media Companion folder has the same permissions, and also the file ffmpeg.exe.

It's definitely a security permissions issue in Windows 7. Running Win 7 x64 myself without issue for screenshot.

Getting back to this. I redownloaded 3.5.9.8 and installed clean and still have the same problem. All folder permissions are full control for everyone.

Found more problems. Added a folder for home movies and did a "search for new home movies". 3.5.9.8 did find all the video files and created nfos for them, but when I get the context menu for any of them in the man browser, when I try to select open folder it fails, saying can't open folder F:\Video\videofilename.nfo and when I try to select open file it just says unable to open file. Again, works correctly in 3.5.9.7

Separate problem. In the nfo file that is generated for home movie the element
Code:
<durationinseconds></durationinseconds>
is filled with the duration, rounded to the nearest whole minute, not seconds. The element
Code:
<runtime></runtime>
is not filled in. Recommend that seconds be entered into the durationinseconds element and the rounded minutes into the runtime element.

When you download and extract Media Companion, is this all in your download folder? And you then cut and paste the Media Companion 3.598b folder to your E Drive?
If so, I'd like you to try to cut and paste the Media Companion 3.598b.exe file to your E Drive. Change the b to c. Then double click the exe. This will create a Media Companion 3.598c folder. Run MC in this folder, and set up as your normally would.

Then have a look at creating a Screenshot of a TV Episode.

As for Home Movies. I haven't had any reports of this not working, so I'll do some testing today.

Regarding <durationinseconds>. This is read from the media info for the file. <runtime> is gotten from scraped data, which is this case there isn't any.
I'll look into converting <durationinseconds> to minutes and storing this into <runtime> tag.

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - Dirki - 2014-08-21

When I want to use all of the information, images etc. MediaCompanion downloaded / edited for the movies / series in XBMC, what settings would I have to change?

And once download all of the movie, series information with MC, I can use them in XBMC without modifying the information with XBMC, I assume. But how could I get all of the information into the database of XBMC?

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - vbat99 - 2014-08-21

OK, so you want to add all the scraped data to XBMC Library.

Lets start with a Movie source first.

Add the movie source to XBMC, then set this source's content to Movie. Note: If on Gotham (or Helix), choose the Local Information Only scraper.
Select OK, and you will be asked if you wish to scan the contents of this new source to the Library.

Done.

Next, add all your sources, ie: another path to Movies, or TV Shows.
For Tv Shows, set content to TV, and also select Local Information Only scraper.

Here's the XBMC Wiki link.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks, vbat99.

So, it is the same way as if you would scrape with a XBMC scraper, there is no special procedure. The already downloaded, existing imformation (images, info files etc.) by MC will just be added to the library of XBMC and not be downloaded again by XBMC when already existing (scraped, edited by MC).

I now use the default theme, skin of XBMC.

The movie, series paths are already added to XBMC and most of the movies, series are already scraped (by XBCM and may be other scrapers, managers). Should I delete all of the images, info files and then rescrape with MC?

And do the images, information etc. scraped by MC differ to the information scraped by XBMC?

And so I could access with XBMC all of the imformation stored on external drives not being plugged in at the moment other than with MC, if I see it right.

Many thanks for the link.

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - vbat99 - 2014-08-21

Pretty much, yes.

If movie info is already scraped, then it's up to you if you want to remove the sources, and re-add them.

Removing a source will offer you the option to remove all movies, artwork etc from that source, from the library.

Then, once all set up, XBMC will scrape the local nfo, artwork etc when you re-add the source, set content etc.

RE: Media Companion 3.5xx beta - Dirki - 2014-08-21

Alright, many thanks.

I am not quite sure, actually, what exactly is the advantage when you scrape with MC and let XBMC after add the information to its library instead of letting XBMC doing it all?

By the way, is there anything I could do against it:
