Unable to Restore Backup - spoonTRex - 2020-04-29

Made a backup of my Win10 install using the Backup add-on, trying to restore to my Xbox One S. Fails when copying the zip file (during copy? after copy?). Any ideas? Thanks!

@spoonTRex

I have merged you into the correct thread. Your log shows an error with the python component of the addon which robweber will need to investigate.

@robber

A few years ago when I used Backup, It would always crash/freeze with the NFS settings. I decided to try again with the latest version, unfortunately, I still encounter the same issue. Is this a bug or a limitation with the add-on?
Backup works fine with my iMac. Setup: Nvidia Shield TV

Log: "BadZipfile: File is not a zip file". I installed 1.5.3 Krypton version but the problem is the same.

Where is my backup in Dropbox? I would like unzip manually but I search in my all Dropbox files and I can't found it.

Thanks in advance.

In my Dropbox this is under the Apps folder in the root directory. I think it's the same for everyone.

There is an error trying to write to the local file U:\Users\UserMgr0\AppData\Local\Packages\XBMCFoundation.Kodi_4n2hpmxwrvr6p\LocalState\cache\202004282308.zip during the backup process. As a result the file copy fails since the file does not exist. My guess is that the addon doesn't have permissions for this directory. I'm not super familiar with Kodi on an Xbox One so not sure why that would be the case offhand. The addon just writes to the default temp directory.

I would like to help with this. The file you put on here doesn't show any instance of the addon actually trying to run and write anything to an NFS share. Could you try and run the addon and post any errors? I see the addon loading on startup but that's about it.

This is happening on a restore operation right? That should be the only time that particular message pops up. It is just a warning that you may be restoring files from an old version of Kodi - which may not be compatible. You can choose to continue if you want but things like addons - if that is what you are restoring - may not work.

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - Hitcher - 2020-07-16

Yes, it was a restore. I was pointed out to me that your addon might not have been updated since this change (https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/17456) hence why the question is in the button.

Thanks for that, I'll review in more detail. I try and keep my eye on the "Changes to the python API" posts in the forum but I didn't see anything related to this in there. Quite possible I'll need to do some updating.

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - Landstander - 2020-08-11

Running Leia on an Android TV with v1.1.3.  I can back up fine and the files seem to be complete, when I restore, most data gets copied back, but no settings get re-instituted.

Seems like something changed in a Kodi update.  Any suggestions?

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - vurt - 2020-08-11

Hello everyone. I'm still on v1.1.3 but I see on Github there are new versions. Can someone tell me how to update to the latest?

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - CodyLane - 2020-08-16

I was hoping Backup would allow for incremental backups? My video library is huge, so backing up the thumbnails takes almost an hour.

So what I was hoping to accomplish:

1.) Initial Backup - All boxes checked, other than custom directories

2.) Incremental Backups - All boxes checked, other than thumbnails and custom directories

However, an attempt to restore an incremental backup crashes Kodi and destroys the database? So I have to start over from scratch, thankfully restoring from the Initial Backup. Possibly incremental backups with less data aren't allowed?

The crash always occurs when attempting to restore the CDDB? Again, this only happens with the incremental backups.

My setup is Kodi 18.8 32bit Android running on a Firestick.

Also, just to check - my most recent crash was when I only checked the box for the database. Kodi crashed, and then the application just infinitely hangs on the initial KODI graphic loading screen.

Thanks very much for any help or advice!

The update to Python 3.8.5 (see PR) seems to be causing an exception in Backup 1.6.3 on Android, see report.

Thanks very much for the info - very glad the full backups are still restoring.

Not gonna pretend to understand any of the technical stuff - hopefully you might update here once the issue is resolved?
