The best you can do for now is to manually download your movie set poster/fanart, then use Movie Set Artwork Automator to assign the local artwork to your sets (note: this add-on does NOT download the artwork for you, it just saves you the laborious task of manually assigning the correct local artwork to your movie sets).

Ah, it would be cool if something similar could be integrated in to the scraper.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - rkjdid - 2013-04-24

Hi there, first thank's for the work.

This scraper seems to be the closest to what I want in terms of customization, but I can't get it to work completely though.

I intend to manipulate this through a python plugin, so I'd like to do things directly through the database and file manipulating.

Here are my concerns for the moment :

- Plots / Plot outlines are not retreived currently
- How can I provide the scraper with the imdb url/id (which I have for almost all my movies), so it doesn't guess what movie to scrape from file name ?
- Is the "[table]path / [column]strSettings" string generated in the database an exhaustive list of available settings for the scraper ? If not where can I find one ?
- What source (imdb/tmdb/other ?) would you advise for getting accurate information in these languages fr/en/es/it/ger, including plots/poster/movie title/genre

Here is the settings list I get from the database :

Code:
<settings>
  <setting id="TrailerQ" value="No"/>
  <setting id="allcritics" value="All Critics"/>
  <setting id="certificationssource" value="IMDb"/>
  <setting id="certprefix" value="Rated "/>
  <setting id="countrysource" value="IMDb"/>

Naming the movie with imdb ID seems to do the job. I'll take other ways of doing so though..

Edit: Okay things are starting to unravel on their own, sorry about this. Getting TMDB to do the work seems to work a lot more. I figured IMDB was at least as good so I didn't bother twisting settings just yet, it doesn't seem to be the case.

Still curious about not renaming the filename.mpg to tt123456.mpg at this point, even though I'll go with that if no other option is available

Why does it says Unable to connect to remote server, would you like to continue scanning? and then it works for a while and then again...... just installed xmbc on my fresh reinstalled mac....

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - jackfifield - 2013-04-28

Hmm, encountered a weird problem. When it scrapes any of my films with a file name that has an "é" in it, it doesn't work, and brings up the manual search box. This is on xbmcbuntu with xbmc 12.1 installed. I just tried it on a Windows machine that has 12.0 installed, and it works on there. Replacing the é with an e in the manual search makes it work.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - MikeRus - 2013-04-30

Hello. The scraper didn't find the movie "Tangled Ever After (2012)". https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/82881-tangled-ever-after, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2112281/?ref_=sr_2

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - olympia - 2013-04-30

Because that's a 'Short'. You need to turn on finding all these types in the scraper settings what will greatly decrease scraper accuracy. Or use an nfo file... Or switch to TMDb's search engine.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - cw-kid - 2013-04-30

Hi

Does the Universal Movie Scraper have anything to do with the correct Media Type icons being displayed in a skin? (Aeon MQ4) Or is it the skin that works this out? Or XBMC itself ?

The icons like DVD, Blu-ray, H.264, DIVX, XVID, AVC1 etc that get display on the case covers and in the movie information pages.

Trying to work out what process makes these icons appear correctly.

Many thanks

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - scudlee - 2013-04-30

Those are typically derived from the file details and/or file name. They're not connected to the scraper, and are highly skin-dependent (XBMC supplies the details to the skin, the skin determines how to interpret them).

Studio logos, certifications, stuff like that, do come via the scraper though, obviously (although the actual images are supplied by the skin).

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I was using a movie scraper from MyMovies.dk and with that allot of the Media type icons do not show up in the UI.

I then switched to the Universal Movie Scraper instead and then the Media type icons started working. which is what made me think it was related to the scraper.

Now I am confused as to why they worked with one scraper and not the other.

Cheers

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - parasocks - 2013-05-02

Latest Frodo install (fresh install on a new OS) and I'm unable to install this addon from within XBMC. Downloads and then says install failed.

I read someone else did a manual install from ZIP but with dependencies, and it's over a year old that post..

Please advise what next steps should be

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - rkjdid - 2013-05-02

Would it be possible to get a hand on the scraper without running it through xbmc ?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - LisaB - 2013-05-04

Hi,

There seems to be a bug scraping posters from IMPAwards. I did a scrape, exported my library using the "separate files" option, and looked at the NFO files. What I found were entries like this:

<thumb aspect="poster">http://www.impawards.com//posters/buffalo_sixty_six_ver1.jpg</thumb>

As you can see, the link is incorrect, and should be:

http://www.impawards.com/1998/posters/buffalo_sixty_six_ver1.jpg

This also affects when you go in to change artwork within XBMC, as all these broken poster links show as generic thumbnails in the selection dialog.

Is this a bug in the Universal Movie Scraper, the default Confluence skin (what I'm using), or in XBMC itself??

I am using the latest 12.2 release.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - olympia - 2013-05-05

This is a scraper issue (due to site layout changes). Will be fixed later today.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - abzhibilt - 2013-05-05

I'm new to xbmc and just set up my raspberry pi with the open elec version 'frodo'.
I was trying to add a movie folder with the universal movie scraper but it always says "server unavailable" (not literally - i have the german version of xbmc) - is there anything i have to configure first? Other scrapers are working but do not find all of my movies... (checked it manually - they do not have all movies in their db).

Thanks for any help!
