Chassi rebranding? - sliddjur - 2012-04-25

So I've been looking at some potentional chassis for my small HTPC build. There are some mini-ITX chassis I've taken an extra look at, but it really confuses me. What's important for me is silent, looks, heat, price. There seems to be some re-branding of the same chassis, some at a lot lower prices. I will be using an external AC Adapter with pico PSU to minimize heat and noise from the chassi.

Examples:
Tendraw (use google translate)
=
OriganAE

And ...
E-Mini Series
Equals:
Habey USA

And ...
Wesena
=
Streacom
=
HD Plex

The Tendraw chassis are really cheap getting of E-bay. But The OriganAE is really expensive where I live (Scandinavia). But the pretty much have the exact same properties, even the width of case is the same, in millimeters. Although maybe the display is of better quality on the OriganAE M10? So far I think I'll get the Tendraw H128, because it's a cheap alternative to the OriganAE, it has support for fans on BOTH sides of the chassi, which will ensure good airflow, and cool temperatures. It also has a grill on the top.

The Wesena Mini ITX7-2 seems nice to, but it is missing a bracket for a PCI slot (for a TV-tuner card) and a front USB ports (for wireless keyboard).

What has been said on this topic?
... oooooor should I just get a bigger chassi with room for two SATA (which I'm planning to put all media files on), and save €150 instead of buying a NAS? If it's possible to keep it un-hearable from the sofa and temps down.
Also I know there are other brands like:
In Win
Antec ISK series
Jonsbo
Viako
Some Lian Li cases and other bigger brand names who have all chassi types.

A lot of cases are resold by different brands but come from the same manufacturer. If a reseller orders enough they can customize and the manufacturer will even put the logo on for them if they want.

Tendraw H125C / Origenae m10 / Iwill HT100. Iwill is the manufacturer.

Tendraw H116 / Iwill HT80. Again, Iwill is the manufacturer.

Habey USA gets their EMC-800 and EMC-600 from Shenzhen Realan (E-Q5 and E-Q6, respectively). Realan is the manufacturer.

The E-mini series E-I5 and E-I7 is also Realan, though Habey is not reselling these. Realan makes a lot of cases, you'll see sold under different brands, especially in the UK/Europe.

Given what you've said above, you might like the E-I7. It supports 80mm fans on both sides and there are USB ports on the side for a keyboard or IR dongle. It also has a half-height expansion slot. It can be ordered without the standard power supply and the picoPSU power jack fits in the same opening as the internal power supply jack.

E-I7 is a really nice looking small case.
The HDD bay comes off with four screws and holds any combination of 2 x 2.5" SSD/HDD or 3.5" HDD.
the 3.5" HDD is also tight against the cooler but possible if needed. The best fit was with 2 x 2.5" devices.
It's nice brushed aluminum with a "diamond" edge that gives it a cool look.
it looks loke with a lot of air vents, the heat dissipation should be very good.

I agree. It is a very nice looking case.

Those findings you've quoted were actually for the E-I5 as described here: http://outsidethestb.blogspot.com/2012/04/e-i5-build.html. In the E-I7 there is plenty of room for a 3.5" HDD, probably two if not using the ODD. If using the ODD, the clearance is pretty similar to the E-I5 and it takes a little more "imagination" to fit 2 x 2.5" as long as one is an SSD. One 2.5" HDD can go under the ODD while an SSD can pretty much go anywhere, like vertically from one of the 'B' holes in the HDD tray.

e```I'm terribly sorry, : Sleepy I have really confounded this two.But they are both very nice, aren't they? I7 is ,so to speak, an upgrade product. i have heard that the products of Realan are very good, and i plan to have one. do you use one of them?how about it?

I've built (and build) systems with the Habey EMC-800 (Realan E-Q5), E-I5 and E-I7. I have quite a few E-I5s and E-I7s as I imported them directly from Realan for building systems for clients and barebones/bare chassis to sell. For me, it's a hobby gone wild Smile -- building, reviewing and blogging about mini systems. The Realan cases are very much to my taste -- simple, minimalist, high-quality and no plastic.

If you look at the blog, a build with the E-I7 was posted today.
