Apparently gotham isn't a mythical place but a nickname for New York RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - nsviper - 2012-05-04 12 = Frodo? 11 = Eden 10 = Dharma 9 = Camelot but before that all I can find is Beta, and Atlantis with weird release numbers.... So I reckon, based on fantasy place names, G will be Gaia (from Isaac Asimov Foundation series) Do I win a coconut? RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - Chris! - 2012-05-04 Well technically Batman lives in Wayne mannor which is outside Gotham City (I think). Gotham is a nickname: http://hotword.dictionary.com/big-apple-gotham/ Also I thought the dark knight was set in New York but had extra bits (such as "wayne towers" and the monorail thing) So strictly it's not a mythical place... we wouldn't want the police to arrest us for not giving a proper code name to XBMC RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - aptalca - 2012-05-04 I am already annoyed about the "Frodo" thing. And if the next one is named "Gandalf" I'll stop using XBMC I'll buy a VHS player RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - isamu.dragon - 2012-05-05 Xbmc release names Atlantis Babylon Camelot Dharma Eden Frodo Why not Gondor as the next release? XBMC 17 Khazad-dum XBMC 18 Legolas XBMC 19 Minas Tirith XBMC 20 Nazgul XBMC 21 Osgiliath XBMC 22 Pippin XBMC 23 Quenya XBMC 24 Rohan XBMC 25 Sauron XBMC 26 Theoden XBMC 27 Umbar XBMC 28 Valmar XBMC 29 Wormtongue XBMC 30 X-pect will have forgotten all about LOTR by now XBMC 31 Yavanna XBMC 32 Zamin Come on guys, I know we all liked the movies/books, but please, enough with the Lord of the Rings references! RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - Ned Scott - 2012-05-05 It should be noted that v12's code name, Frodo, is in honor of one of the founding devs of XBMC, not the hobbit. Ahh, here I was thinking that "Frodo" was sticking out ("Which one of these is not like the others?"). RE: XBMC 13.0 - codename "G?" - ronie - 2012-05-06 Thanx to everyone for all your suggestion! We've had a team meeting last night and, amongst others, we decided on the new codename for XBMC 13.0 It wasn't an easy decision as so many good and fitting names have been brought up. The general team feeling was, our new name should reflect the direction XBMC is heading in the years to come. Since one of our main focusses will be 'WAF' (Wife Acceptance Factor), the team almost unanimously voted for: (2012-05-04, 01:04)Martijn Wrote: Girls We feel we have neglected this part of XBMC far to long and hope we can give something back to the ones who've felt ignored for all this time, by dedicating the codename to them.
