Support for Speex: A Free Codec For Free Speech - divingmule - 2012-05-09 Hi, is there any reason why Speex codec isn't supported? http://www.speex.org/ From my research, you can compile ffmpeg with --enable-libspeex. RE: Support for Speex: A Free Codec For Free Speech - TTTT6 - 2013-03-21 I need speex as well. Please implement it, if you can RE: Support for Speex: A Free Codec For Free Speech - Robotica - 2013-03-22 Reading a little, I think the speex codec isn't used anymore nowadays. It is replaced by: http://opus-codec.org/ But it would be awesome if XBMC would support video calling, a Skype-like Addon. All related XBMC projects didn't take off and ended in lots of user requests without the actual work be done. Great idea. This would be awesome! RE: Support for Speex: A Free Codec For Free Speech - mwahal - 2013-04-24 I think its the ffmpeg being bundled by xbmc which needs to enabled speex support. By default, speex is disabled, so the xbmc/ffmpeg team has to add "--enable-speex" option when they are generating the config file for the ffmpeg. Right now, I am compiling my own xbmc on linux and I have hacked the configure file where I have removed "enabled speex && " from the line where it checks for speex. I have yet to test it though, hopefully today. WIll update this thread. RE: Support for Speex: A Free Codec For Free Speech - Robotica - 2013-04-29 there are speex and opus enabled builds (OSX & Win32) available: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=156303&pid=1409251#pid1409251 |
