Acer Revo 3700 and jaggy lines when playing video - uknowme79 - 2012-05-11 22:53

Hello,

I am running a Acer Revo 3700 Dual Core Atom, 2gb ram, 500gb hdd, Nvidea Ion2 with Windows 7 64bit and XBMC Eden.

My current issue is when I play 720p video via XBMC video I get these jaggy lines that appear once every couple of minutes or upto half a hour.

I have enabled the following on XBMC: Allowed hardware acceleration and Use a fullscreen window rather than a true fullscreen.

I have been playing around with the XBMC settings and unable to find a solution! Tried updating my Nvidea driver but Windows advise I am running the latest up to date driver (I just installed the driver a week ago). I am unsure what to do next but maybe give up on the Acer Revo!

Can somebody please advise what settings I can use?

Thanks

Hi,

Try disabling "use a full screen window rather than true full screen"

The ion/atom machine should probably be used in "true full screen" as this will take pressure off the CPU onto the GPU.

Hope tht helps,

Hmm.

I myself have a revo, 4 in fact. 2 ion and 2 AMD...

Could you post your other settings, screen res/hz/etc etc etc plus your connections (hdmi/VGA) and your GPU settings in the ions properties etc.

Are you scaling the image?
Are you going via an AVR?
Are you tv settings set to correctly etc.

The more information, the better and hopefully something will refresh someone's mind Smile

You most definitely want to run an Atom and Ion system in true full screen mode. Otherwise you will get screen tearing, which could be what you are experiencing.

Yea,
It sounded like tearing to me, from his initial post it suggests he was using a window rather than true full screen (which is why I suggested he disable the window and enable the true full screen) but he said tht didn't work? I

'm not sure what else it could be expect incorrect resolution etc, but more info will definetetly help.

Hopefully he will post back some more info soon Smile

Try changing this:
Verticle Blanc Sync - From disabled to "always"

this should help too.
