Have you try "Prime95"? Check out these tests- AMD A8-3850 2.9GHz Llano APU Review........

I doubt it......and welcome back bud!

Why are you doubting? Has someone already tried? or do you have it? have you tested...

I already looked online and people are running there GPU's for gaming on it....

Here is the proof....

#95

No, I don't own any of the above. I'm doubting it because most of the complains about the case are PSU being weak. I'm doubting it the same way I doubted the 300-65 PSU. I skimmed through the thread, and they are using the case with lower TDP CPU's.....

You don't have to take my word for it.....you can give it shot and you can always replace it with Pico later.......!

When I build HTPC and desktop PC, I stick to 50% to 70% rule.......

I know you do, but I'm asking Mick1152........

Ok my bad bluray ..... did not see the reply of Mick1152 Wrote..... weird...

Anyways... I hope hope the stock PSU works.... if not then more money down the drain for a PICO......

Makes me think a lot.....

I hope Mick1152 Primes it..... so we know for sure....

Mick1152 Please prime it for us about 10 minutes and tell us the results...... you have a killa a watt right?

The test system used a 850W PSU. You should see better power consumption than what's shown there.

Yes I have a Kill a Watt, I'll try to do this Prime95 thing you speak of tonight if I have a few minutes otherwise I'll post it tomorrow for you.

My previous "scientific stress test" consisted of transcoding a blu-ray while watching a movie. Saw a post by bluray that this was a good way to stress things.

Did you trancode the bluray file using HandBrake? It's not as much stress as Prime95, and it use slightly less power than Prime95......

Yes, you can give Prime95 a try for Beer......

If you go for the 65W Intel i3-2105 or i3-2125 CPU, it should be plenty of wattages for it.....and it should make a very good desktop......

RE: Antec ISK 300-150 DESKTOP A8-3850 (non-HTPC) - Dougie Fresh - 2012-05-24

I just tested my office PC using a Kill-a-Watt meter.

Specs: i3-2100 / 128GB SSD / Slim slot-load blu-ray / 4GB RAM / 120W DC+84W AC PSU / 1 x 80mm fan.

Idle at desktop: ~27.5W
Prime95 FFT: ~62.5W
1080p video in WMP: ~31.5W
Sleep: 4.4W

It will be interesting to see how the A8-3850 with 150W PSU compares to this.

It will.... but PRO V2 is rated to 90W.... read it on there website...

I like the Alpine 64 Plus its made for 100W and already tested on the A8..... Smile

Looks like those tests bluray posted are fairly accurate. I may have been watching a 480p dvd when I checked the power while transcoding with handbrake last time, I honestly can't remember what I was watching at the time so I can't give any details about that power measurement. However, today's measurements are the following:

32.8W at idle (with these forums open in Chrome)
Image

73W-76W Watching 1080 mkv from one of the hard drives
Image

143W 10 minutes of Prime95 kicking my poor little HTPC's ass (Selected the option that said "Maximum heat, CPU, and Power")

My Home Theater System
Silverstone ML03B
SeaSonic 380W Power Supply
ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75
AMD A8-3870K
Crucial M4 64GB SSD
BIG Shuriken 2
Kingston HyperX 4GB
3 TB green hard drive for MOVIES
2 TB green hard drive for TV SHOWS, MUSIC, HOME VIDEOS, PICTURES, and other media

Sweet so from the looks of it..... the 150W Antec PSU will work....
Now it's time to get a Kill A Watt..... maybe someone want's to donate? Smile

Dougie Fresh what you think? you are the one who knows all this stuff............
