RE: [MOD] reFocus BIG v.062 (0.9.6 git) - rd1979 - 2012-07-30

Can I use this without it affecting my current reFocus settings? Meaning, does it install as a totally separate skin, so I can mess with it without it doing anything to my current reFocus?

Yes.
Excellent.

Installing now. Laugh

@paul
Yea speed issues are resolved, believe it or not they are all traced back to cinema experience? So I removed that plugin, and now it's back to how it was... Fast, smooth, reliable.

No idea hat the new version on that plugin was doing but it wasn't good whatever it was Smile

@Sabbish
I've tried to pinpoint why and what causes the posters to jump out the border but for the life of me I just can't pinpoint exactly what's causing it Undecided it was driving me crazy trying to figure out what it was that caused it, then, when I finally thought it was "insert item here" it changed and wasn't reproducible this way nd was not reproducible another way Big Grin

Its easily resolvable by simply reloading the skin in appearance and switching from this, back to the default xbmc skin then back to big again so it's probably some little random bug in the code.

It's by no means a show stopper though.

Other than that it's been really quite stable and a pleasure to use/view Smile

One thing I have noticed though is this, when I have fan art rotating on the home screen, leave xbmc on overnight to use as a upnp server, I usually awake to a crashed xbmc using over 1.6gb ram?
Since disabling the orating fanart on the home screen, this type of crash has never happened since?

This could just be a coincidence, but perhaps there is a memory leak there in that section of the skin somewhere, so thought I'd at least mention it Smile

RE: [MOD] reFocus BIG v.062 (0.9.6 git) - rd1979 - 2012-07-30

This skin mod works perfectly, I was able to tune just about everything how I wanted it.

One issue though. I use http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=75867&pid=1085180#pid1085180 to show chapter information, and it doesn't work out well. I think it'd be a great addition to this mod.
Is there a chance you could add this in?

When i´m browsing the library, i cant see any fanarts in the background. Its just plain white (etc.). How can i activate Fanart? Even if its just shimmering through? Wink

Hey Pat, I am glad you're not having those performance issues anymore Smile

We will check that possible memory leak, though I have not experienced that issue myself.
If you could provide a log that would be useful.

Thanks, it's nice you like the mod. Sure, I will implement the chapter information.

This is the setting you need to display global fanart backgrounds:

That's great Paul. I always found the chapter information quite useful. Thanks for considering it!

Update v.065
  • New View 'Banner with Poster'
  • New View 'Double Column Banners'
  • Many minor bug fixes.

I performed also some small changes here and there, for instance related to the unwatched/in progress overlays, or to the watchlist script implementation. Mainly for testing.

Yes, thank you for adding this in. I assume your recently released version doesn't have the feature yet, but I'll try it out and look for bugs. Big Grin

The mod does not provide any way to change the transparency.
If you use the default refocus theme, you can find the global background here:

backgrounds/background.png

You can modify the file accordingly with your taste. As for the other themes, the textures are compressed into the *.xbt files that you will find in the skin media folder.

in the new banner views the item count in the upper left corner gets hidden under the banners as you scroll through the tv shows.

Hi Paul!
Regarding some of the modifications I suggested some pages ago, I finished a mod to the universal scraper (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=136873), so I tried to use the new information in the skin. Here are some examples, showing especially rotten tomatoes scores (these are not mockups, they're the actual skin slightly modified by me):

Notice the icons that adapt to the actual score, as well as the score itself. Of course, I've temporarily removed the rating line and the stars, since they would be redundant (I haven't yet implemented conditional visibility, I'm still testing).
Also notice the second title, which is the "original title" (basically customized with another language, I've added that to the universal scraper) and the year near the title. They still don't totally convince me, but maybe you have better ideas on their positioning.

I was wondering, are you interested in implementing them into your skin, or should I just keep modding for my local version?

P.S.
Is there any way to increase the volume of skin sounds? With confluence the volume is ok, but with refocus it's very low...

Edit: working on a way to show images... They're not displaying...

Edit 2: managed to insert images the proper way.

@rd1979 @kyotocafe @wolfbiker

I am about to upload a new version that adds the chapter feature and fixes the new banner views bugs.

@zeppy

Hey zeppy,

your mod is pretty nice. I am quite busy at the moment with work and working on reloaded, but I will give it a try. I can implement your mod as an option.
As for the volume, I would suggest to edit the *.wav files in the sounds folder, to make them louder as I am not really planning to increase the volume.
