Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-06-28

I am including my log from when Eden crashes EVERY time. The trick to making it crash is to go into Movies - then Title (for instance) and then wait about 5 seconds at most and it crashes. I can sit in the main menus , or be in settings all day long, For some reason it ONLY happens when I go to play a movie and I navigate into those areas that it does this. I have already completely uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to see if it was just a bad setup. Any help to fix this would be GREATLY appreciated!!

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Memphiz - 2012-06-28

how many movies do you have in the movie list?

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-06-28

I have two external sources totaling 625 movies, most of which are bluray rips….a couple hundred are dvd rips
When I created the source I put both sources under one. Is that where I went wrong and why it's crashing? The other thing I notice is when I go under Videos and then Files, I can look through each of my sources listed there without it crashing. Doesn't make sense to me.

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Memphiz - 2012-06-28

Nahh ... the crash is very strange. It crashs while trying to convert the duration in seconds over all your movies in that list into a visibile time string. I don't see obvious things why this crash could happen...

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-06-28

YES! I noticed at the bottom while calculating time it crashes! I have also made sure to run Disk Utility as well on everything to make sure all permissions and the disk itself were in proper working order, well as well as that program works for Mac anyways.

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-07-05

Just wondering if anyone else can chime in with a hopeful fix to my dilemma. Thanks!!

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Ned Scott - 2012-07-05

Perhaps it is due to a specific file? Maybe when it gets to that file and tries to calculate the time, something's wonky and it freaks XBMC out. The process of elimination with 625 movies might be a bit much, but it's one idea.

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-07-10

I appreciate the suggestions and have played around a bit by removing my sources and only had one movie in Eden. It still crashes when I go to "Movies" and then select any of the "Title" "Genre" etc. YET when I go to "Files" I can look at the movie details, fiddle around with the thumbs and screen art and play the movie without Eden crashing at all. I have tried adding one source at a time ( with multiple movies) and navigating to "Files" for each source and seeing the thumb and fan art views and playing with no problem, yet when I select Movies and select by title again, it crashes. Frustrating cause I would really like to have all my sources smashed together and in alphebetical order in one place as I'm sure this program is intended to be used. I'm surprised nobody else is seeing this problem. I do however have a good 15 TB of media. Perhaps Eden is having a problem somehow with handling the quantity of movies? I surely notice as its adding up the total time all the movies add up to that this is when Eden crashes. Mind you once again I have uninstalled completely, and reinstalled this numerous times, cleaned the library, removed all sources, and started from scratch. Any help once again would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!!

Do a Debug Log - my bet is the crash isn't where the stack trace says it is, particularly as another thread is reading stream details (much more likely to cause issues) and another is running the thumbloader.

RE: Help Eden Crashing - Drseussami - 2012-07-14

Ok….I am including two debug logs. I sure hope someone can help me with this annoying problem! Wish I was able to figure it out by myself , maybe someone can explain? Thanks in advance!

When it crashes does it give you error: XBMC/Boxee exited with status: 5?

I Haven't noticed an error like that, unless I have overlooked it in the bug files I have included. It surely doesn't pop up an error in a separate window other than the pastebin included.

I apologize I didn't notice this was Mac OSx ... reason I was asking is because I am experiencing the same exact thing on my Apple TV 1 (Silver) - I made a post for it, but same thing happens and I only have 344 movies. There as to be an error somewhere in Eden that is causing this to happen on two different OS/Machines (but what and where and how to correct it)...
