How to enhance my sd movies ? - zirconicus - 2012-07-17

Hi all !

I still have a lot of standard definition videos in my collection (especially tv series) and they really look bad on my xbmc (i have a lg lcd 42" with an amd e-350 based htpc with 4gb ram and windows 7 64bit). My xbmc is setup with dvxa acceleration.

What can i do to enhance my sd videos ? Any settings on xbmc or catalyst control center ? Is there a way to separate video profiles between sd and hd videos ?

Thanks

You can find an option to Post-Process SC or All vieos in the Playback options for XBMC.

You can also use an external player and some 3rd party filters. I suggest MPC-HC using Madvr. Both are free, and fairly easy to use.

Or do what I did and get HD versions.

I have post processing on in the playback options (but i think it's disabled anyway with hardware acceleration)

Are you de-interlacing them? Chances are if they are SD they are interlaced, and that will look pretty crappy until you de-interlace them.
