Looking for tvrenamer - swhitch - 2012-07-24

Probably Off-Topic: I recently lost my HD and had to reinstall, was able to get my old setup pretty much back, the only thing missing is the application tvrenamer from tvrenamer.com. The site has disappeared and after spending hours googling mirrors and testing alternatives I am desperately looking for tvrenamer. To avoid confusion here is a screenshot of the app I mean: http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/sshot1010.png
Does anyone have the windows version and can send it to me or upload it somewhere to download? Would be much appreciated.

You mean this?
http://code.google.com/p/tv-renamer/

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - swhitch - 2012-07-24

Nope, looks similar, is a different tool though, The one I mean used to be hosted on tvrenamer.com, the latest version listed there was 0.7 beta 2 released in 2010, there is a reference to a version 2.5 floating around the web from 01/2012 but I have no idea if that is/was legit.

You screenshot doesn't work.
This is a different project here http://tvrename.com

There was another dos based one, that you would copy to the folder where you wanted the files to be renamed. And executed it from there.

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - swhitch - 2012-07-24

Thanks for the info about the screenshot and the suggestion roger. I have reuploaded the image to here: http://i48.tinypic.com/2q366gn.jpg

As for tvrename, I have also looked at that as well as Filebot, Epnamer, theRenamer, Sickbeard and 2 other tools named tvrenamer but they are all missing some of the features I so loved about tvrenamer and cant do without. For example: Lets say I have a folder with a season of a tv show where some episodes are named The.Beverly.Hillbillies.S**E**.avi and some TBH.S**E**.avi and some th3.B3v3rly.H1llb1ll13s.S**E**.avi. I load up the folder in tvrenamer, it reads the folder, looks up the episode titles and offers to rename only the ones named The.Beverly.Hillbillies. I could then simply tell the app that TBH and th3.b3v3rly.H1llb1ll13s were part of the same tv series and it would automatically offer to rename these to my chosen naming format as well. Thats the kind of feature I havent found in any of the other renaming apps.

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - skweezer - 2012-07-24

Thats a very particular need. Most people would just want all the episodes renamed in the same format.

I use filebot, and have found this to be the best. It matches everything i throw at it, and You can change the format it renames in too, so it can rename as:
Name - 01x01 - Episode name
or
Name - S01E01 - Episode name

As well as loads more options.

scratch that

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - Nu7s - 2012-07-24

These look great, can't believe I've been renaming these by hand.

Therenamer does that. You simply has to tell it the tvdb ID of "TBH" and "th3.b3v3rly.H1llb1ll13s" (you can simply copy it from therenamer's database entry from a previous run, since it should have found the correct ID automarically for The.Beverly.Hillbillies).

It is not perfect and has its own idiosyncraticy but after netburn's tv renamer stopped working for me it was the better alternative, and does a lot of things pretty well.

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - dsmuk - 2012-08-07

I have this version of TvRenamer, works create. It seems to be just the one file

I can upload it somewhere if you like.

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - danceresort - 2012-08-08

I would suggest you look at Sickbeard, I only use it as a renamer, and works very well. It will show you coming episodes, missed episodes and other cool stuff, you dont need to use the downloading part of the application.

RE: Looking for tvrenamer - swhitch - 2012-08-08

It was written by Rashad Hourie and use to be hosted at TVRenamer by Hourie Soft

Also my favourite. Sadly it doesn`t support the new season naming scheme that uses dates for some shows like Discovery Channel Documentaries
I try to avoid java as far as I can and prefer to stick to portable apps to keep my registry/overheads low.

Also the portable apps are safer since if they websites go down/hosting issues (like what happened to ember and other apps),
you don`t have to worry about getting it to run using online installers etc. (development and update issues aside)

Don't suppose you still have a copy of "TVRenamer 0.7 Beta 2" because I lost mine when my hd failed.
