ethernet wires - falafael - 2012-07-28 I am moving xbmc to another room, and need to extend the wire, i onlky have a couple of plugs spare so, need to get it right first time, so i have come on here for some pointers! My current wire is as follows: One end in the router: white/orange, orange, green/white, blue, blue/white, green, brown/white, brown. The other end in the computer: Green/white, green, orange/white, brown/white, brown, orange, blue, blue/white SO, what colouring should i use to extend from the computer end? Thanks for the replys guys! RE: ethernet wires - thrak76 - 2012-07-28 Are you describing two different cables? Standard cat5e terminating instructions. Should be the same for cat6 also. RE: ethernet wires - falafael - 2012-07-28 no the cable i mention above is that, one cable, i just want to make another cable up to extend that one! Thanks RE: ethernet wires - trdmlc - 2012-07-28 When you say extend, i assume you need to make the length longer. Why not buy a coupler for a few dollars and then make/use a regular passthrough cable. Here's another site with instructions and rules for terminating cables. http://www.lanshack.com/make-cat5E.aspx RE: ethernet wires - thrak76 - 2012-07-28 (2012-07-28, 11:52)trdmlc Wrote: Here's another site with instructions and rules for terminating cables. http://www.lanshack.com/make-cat5E.aspx That's a way better set of instructions! Thanks for sharing. RE: ethernet wires - falafael - 2012-07-28 Thank you very much, now i can watch the olympics in the kitchen!!! |
