A couple of crucial features missing - User 49598 - 2012-08-03

Now, this is really a classy, sexy skin. I LOVE IT.

A few things are really missing to me:

- support for collections (place all Star Wars movies in a sub-list automatically; see ReFocus skin for that)
Ehm, nevermind. It's been some time since my last Mediacenter setup from scratch, I forgot this feature s within the Archive settings in XBMC.

- a viewtype which condenses the lower part of screen, let's say by half (I'd happily trade "details" for that) and uses the fanart as a dimmed out background for it (the bottom screen part only). This would still be classy, useful, and also give more space to contents.

Really hope to see those two.
In return, I'l happily help for the italian translation.

Best regards
Fabio

Hi Fabio,

By the looks of your comment, you sorted the movie sets question! Wink

Regarding a fanart view, back in very early development i played around with full screen fanart. If i remember correctly, it's didn't suit the skin. I'll have a another go and post some screens for comments. Not sure when that will be though as i'm currently switching the skin to 1080 res, plus adding some other features. Big Grin

Thanks for the offer of an Italian translation. That would be great. There will be some new strings in the next release so best to work off that one. I'll give you heads up before release.

Thanks!

I agree, full screen fanart wouldn't suit well with Welo.

My suggestion was a little different, I'll explain with a little more details.
Welo screen is vertically divided in three parts. The middle one is about contents, covers and lists; the lowest one is about the fanart, plot, infos.
Suggestion is, to provide an alternative view which reduces by 50% the lowest part, hiding or re-placing plot taking the place of nowadays fanart+plots.
Fanart then would be drawn, cropped and with smooth edges, as a dimmed background in the lowest screen part only.

So, it wouldn't be fullscreen.
Only concern that comes to me are:
- is it possible to apply dim, crop and smooth edge (alpha filter ?) on the fly to fanarts ?
- all of this has the potential to enlarge the contents part of screen, and also clean the somewhat cluttered lowest screen part. Which fanart dim will be best to avoid "background noise" ?

Best regards
Fabio

Somthing like this...

and

They are just quick mockups by the way. Could work i suppose? Viewtype could be called Fanart. Or maybe an optional settings to enable lower screen fanart, that hides the usual fanart, and re-arranges the plot, etc.

Cheers Wink

Or maybe this for a fanart view...

We'll see!

Those look nice !

-> for this to work, fanart should be resized to take 50-60% of screen width I think. It'd have the potential to show good part of the fanart (this concept shows too little of it imho)

http://i.imgur.com/k4gh4.jpg
-> looks nice, but gives no extra space to the contents screen part

http://i.imgur.com/Izsmc.jpg
-> perhaps the one I like the less, it gives no extra space to the contents screen part, and also endangers the beautifully clean list/covers part.

I'd vote the 1st, given fanart shrinked to 50-60% of screen, moved slightly left than screen center, and with smoothen out borders.

i just tried the skin and i really like it!!

it is fast (important on atom d510..), its easy to use and looks really good!
Keep up the good work!!

but... Wink

- i'm really missing a "banner-list" view for tv shows, i really prefer a big list with banners instead of posters.. that option would be great and maybe with a bit of fanart like liquid posted above Smile

- i need the possibility to easily set a sleep timer on the on/off menu (just exit and restart stuff there)

3.
being able to remove the 2 empty places for recent music covers. i'm not using any music scrapers

i would really appreciate these changes.. or any hacks to get there Wink

I've made lots of texture improvement so it's gonna look even better for Welo 2! I'm starting to think that the initial release was more like an alpha... it was incomplete, and had loads of room to improve.

I've got no problem adding those features... leave with me. Wink
