Xbmc on 1680*1050 Monitor - Michael.F - 2012-08-25

Hey,

I just got an old monitor and i´m wondering if i could use it for my bedroom htpc.

Unfortunately it´s only capable of a resolution of 1680*1050.
Is it possible to force it to display Full HD (and let it downscale).

I´m asking because i don´t think Xbmc skins are very compatible with 16:10, right?

Downscaling is easy, no issue there. As for 16:10, they'll stretch a little bit, but it won't be very noticeable. Jezz_X made a 16:10 version of Confluence once that works pretty nice, if you do notice the stretching and it bothers you. I'll see if I can hunt up a link for it.

You can also calibrate the XBMC GUI to use a 16:9 space, so that there are black bars at the top and bottom.

Thanks for the reply!

I tried to force 1080p on it and it works reasonably well.
Of course it´s very visible that it´s not native when i´m webbrowsing but it´s barely noticeable in xbmc.
