Audio Settings - Very Confused - swan14 - 2012-09-03 Hello XBMC users, I have just setup XBMCbuntu on a HTPC and I am getting no sound on the UI or playing movies. Firstly my setup is the following:- XBMCbuntu running on a Intel DG45FC mobo (which has onboard GPU etc). HDMI cable running from the mobo HDMI port into a HDMI port on my Panasonic TV. I don't have an amp or anything - I just want the audio to play through the TV speakers. System Settings: Audio output = HDMI Speaker Config = 2.0 Boost volume level on downmix = checked Dolby Digital capable receiver = unchecked DTS capable reciever = unchecked Now the confusing parts... Audio output device: (this gives me a number of options which are) HDA Intel - hdmi - 0, 1 or 3 (ALSA) --no idea what these different numbers mean HDA Intel - iec958 - 0, 1 or 3 (ALSA) iec958 (ALSA) hdmi (ALSA) HDA Intel - default - 0, 1 or 3 (ALSA) Passthrough output device: (same options as above). I've tried a few combinations and nothing is working. I got audio for movies working after some more playing around but no audio for the UI still. How do I get the console up? Is alsamixer an add-on? RE: Audio Settings - Very Confused - wsnipex - 2012-09-04 menu/UI sounds don't work properly in Eden. Its best to keep them disabled. In the nightlies (Pre Frodo) it works ok. A bit OT but I'm thinking about buying an amp soon to complete my home theatre setup, is there anything I should be aware of in regards to XBMC? Cheers |
