Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Busenheimer - 2013-04-03 (2013-04-03, 19:16)Cassiuss Wrote:(2013-04-03, 17:07)Busenheimer Wrote: Why do you want to run 2 HDMI? Why not NUC to avr, and avr to TV? Well the cec control is what makes it so everything talks. With the harmony it would be IR. I was using Crystalbuntu and a harmony 900 before this. Just set up an activity in the harmony software to turn on and off all your devices. Worked okay for me. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - xeonic - 2013-04-04 Hey all, Does anyone here have the "DC3217IYE" running Windows 8? If so, does DXVA2 hardware acceleration with "progressive" VC-1 work for you? I used MakeMKV to grab a copy of "Fast and Furious". On my Windows 7-E8500 with an ATI 4830HD GPU it uses DXVA2 and plays flawlessly. If I hit 'o' I can see 'dc:ff-vc1-dxva2' On the Windows 8-NUC, it won't use the DXVA2 and on action scenes the vpcu hits 100% and I start dropping frames. If I hit 'o' on this guy I only have 'dc:ff-vc1'. Does the 4000 iGPU not support hardware acceleration of VC-1? I have the lastest bios, drivers, and version of XBMC. I should also note that DXVA2 acceleration works flawlessly with h264 on the NUC. I'm a little disappointed I can't get the NUC to work properly. Thanks! Tried the xrandr command on 3.8.5 and it didn't seem to do anything, other than make the screen flash for about a second. Anyone know why kernel 3.9 breaks HD Audio support? Still cheaper than Dabs was last time I looked. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - ScAndal - 2013-04-04 I got my Celeron NUC setup using openelec on a 4gb flash drive with 8gb of ram. It has played everything I have thrown at it including lossless bluray with DTS-HD RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - ZetBv - 2013-04-04 Maybe you guys already know (I did not read all the posts here), just want to share this info with you. There is a fanless NUC case RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Raytestrak - 2013-04-04 A bit off-topic, but has anyone here ever tried the Intel Integrator Toolkit? I got my NUC this week and I saw this tool making it possible to add my windows 8 key to a .bio file, but also add a custom boot image. Thought it would be pretty cool to replace the intel logo with an xbmc logo. On the other hand, with every fast boot option enabled, you don't even get to see it RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - freezer2k - 2013-04-04 that fanless case is really sexy, however I really wonder if it can handle high loads over extended periods. If the readings are correct, my i3 NUC goes up to 86C under full load, and then the fan is spinning really high. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - oldskool - 2013-04-04 (deleted) Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Stridis - 2013-04-04 I have order the Impactics D1NU-USB case today, just use my Intel NUC to watch movies with Openelec i think it will be OK for that The heatsink in copper is alone 225g, complete case about 1,6 kg And i can connect two internal usb to the chassi too :-) Johan RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - freezer2k - 2013-04-04 (2013-04-04, 21:04)Stridis Wrote: I have order the Impactics D1NU-USB case today, just use my Intel NUC to watch movies with Openelec i think it will be OK for that Cool, please run benchmarks and post temps once you got it! Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Stridis - 2013-04-04 There is two diffrent versions of this case, one with 2 usb from internal to chassi, and one with two serial to the chassi ;-) Serial ports: http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Impactics-D1NU-B-Intel-NUC-Gehaeuse-schwarz::22396.html Usb ports: http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Impactics-D1NU-USB-B-Intel-NUC-Gehaeuse-USB-schwarz::22398.html RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - ZetBv - 2013-04-04 (2013-04-04, 20:54)freezer2k Wrote: If the readings are correct, my i3 NUC goes up to 86C under full load, and then the fan is spinning really high. i3-3217U CPU has a 17W TDP. I have a i3-3225 (TDP 55W) in a Hdplex fanless case - under full load with Prime95 - 68°C. So, I am sure i3-3217U will never reach 86°C in the Impactics case.
