Eh? I'm UK mate. Used ebuyer.

Got the Celeron. Don't need no transcoding nonsense!

haha that was exactly my thoughts after 5 minutes with my NUC. Ended up relegating my revo to the bedroom.
Can get decent money for them on fleabay though.

Well mine will be going on eBay. It's got SSD and ill bung a windows 7 key and intel WiFi/Bluetooth card in it I have spare. Smile

But can see myself possibly toying with it as a second one as don't have sky and would need both running sometimes lol.

Any one else have problem with Wake on Lan ? Cant get it to work at all, had it working with my old HTPC but the nuc refuse to start with WOL :/

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - twelvebore - 2013-05-03

Having had a good general experience with an i3 NUC for my main HTPC, I bought a Celeron NUC to replace an ageing mITX HTPC in my bedroom.

I have to say I was a bit gobsmacked how fast OpenELEC is running off a USB thumb drive on the Celeron NUC, compared to Windows 7 on an mSATA SSD in the i3 variant. Big Grin

If I decide to go NUC with Aeon Nox for 1080p, is there any real difference between celeron and i3?

Thank you in advance

I have both and haven't seen anything. Running Windows on the i3 and openElec on the Celeron
I did go with Ace over aeon nox

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Thom7pson - 2013-05-03

I don't understand why so expensiveImage

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - Crssi - 2013-05-03

@macrho
Is aeon nox "too much" for celeron?
Or it is only that you prefer more Ace.

@thom7pson: wait a bit, i believe that with release of i5 and i7, i3 and celeron will be cheaper

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC possibilities - jammyb - 2013-05-03

Think most of us here have moved from aeon nox to ace. Natural progression and people fancying a change I think!

Just dug out uncle Dremel. Gonna cut a window in the NUC case for an internal RC6 and simerec IR receivers.
Get some opaque plastic for the window and glue it in.

I'll post pics of my hand glued to the case ha!

I highly doubt "most users" have moved on to Ace over Nox. You might have, but I don't think Ace is even in the same league as Aeon Nox.

And I highly doubt that you're right just because you think you are Tongue

You may need to enable it in the bios.
