Weird thing is: after a freeze, I am still able to connect via FTP etc. Running OpenELEC rc1 by the way, though I don't think it is a factor, because other skins never freeze

I dont understand. All dialogs are now exactly the way they were in 3.5. On my test system where I could reproduce the problem on 3.6.0 I refreshed 40 tv shows in a row and not a single hickup.

FYI, I found that downgrading OpenElec back to Beta7 (1.95.7) combined with Aeon Nox 3.6.1 resolved the freezing issues for me.

Is there a way to allow auto updates of add-on XBMC, but exclude certain add-ons?

Alright, I ran the GIT pull before I read this. It seems the update to 4.0 didn't happen and I was already auto-updated to 3.6. When I check for available updates, it does say that 3.6.1 is available. Selecting this update causes a black screen freeze. I haven't noticed a freeze when I am navigating menus, only during the update and when I am not actively using XBMC and I come back to it. I too, am using win 7x64. I'll try Big_Noid's suggestion regarding the 1080i folder and report back soon.

I've been getting a lot of freezing, particularly when dealing with music (adding to or refreshing the library). Only started happening when I went through the list of addons in Settings - Skin - Help and installed most of the listed ones in there. Over the weekend I was getting freezes every 10-15 minutes or so, at random times, doing various things.
I've installed the above zip and haven't had a crash yet this evening (using for more than an hour, adding to the music library and updating fan art/information etc).
Seems to have done the trick for now.

It just happens randomly navigating menus, backing out, ect. It's not something I can reproduce on a certain menu or tv show, it's just completely random but it happens on a constant basis. I've done everything suggested and tried every test file and nothing fixes it.

So far so good. After doing the 1080i fix as per Big Noid, I was still getting freezes when trying to update (and also while navigating). I tried installing 3.6.1 from a zip and it froze again. I couldn't even open XBMC. So, frustrated, I took a break and came back and checked the task manager. XBMC was still running there. Killing that then restarting seemed to work. Been navigating around for a bit with no issues. I'll let you know if there is.

I just updated this last night and noticed something that is now missing.
When in the movies screen, I am able to press up on the remote to activate the side menu. That still works but the option to view the movie trailer is now gone. Any reason why?

there´s an option in skin settings. you can move the trailer button to context menu.

I already had it enabled in context menu. Strangely, I had to disable the setting that says "move trailers to context menu" for it to be enabled.
