"Failed to initialize audio device" When Skipping or Changing Track - JoshM - 2012-10-02

If I have some tunes playing and I skip ahead or choose a different song, I will get "failed to initialize audio device." It seems that if something is currently playing, it has "locked" the audio device and I need to first stop that and then play the next thing. I am sending the audio through "alsa:plughw:1,3" which is an HDMI output on my ATI PCI-e x16 graphics card.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? You can see my audio devices in this other post.

XMBC is really nice so far, just need to get this solved!

Wow, I was just going to a post a thread for this. I am experiencing this problem too!

Can anyone offer up any information?

Can you try this code in advancedsettings.xml:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
    <audio>
        <streamsilence>1</streamsilence>
    </audio>
</advancedsettings>

seem he is running Eden, so the streamsilence option is not available, correct?

edit: a debug log might help

try turning off fade next track in music playback section
see if this helps

I did turn that on. I will try to turn it off and report back.

Sorry if in wrong place.

I leave my machine on all the time and when I switch to my media center most often than not I have to exit and start back up.
I have tried the silence thing and that didn't work either.
