Problem with playback of large recordings - ant_thomas - 2012-10-06

I've seen this issue with TVHeadend and VDR.

VDR by default splits recordings into 2GB parts... 0001.ts, 0002.ts, 0003.ts etc
TVHeadend doesn't seem to split and records to one large file.

In the past when using VDR I increased the max recording file size to around 20GB.

When playing back the resulting recordings the audio was fine but the video was a bit of a mess, juddery, blocky, hard to describe but it's seems XBMC is struggling to decode the videos. Using VDPAU.

This morning I recorded some TV with TVHeadend and that resulted in a 20.3GB MKV. This recording also suffers from the same issue.

If I record shorter things they playback perfectly fine.

Has anyone else seen this issue before?
