picture looks slightly blurry? - scales11 - 2012-10-09

Hi all.

I just tried out XBMC for the first time on my raspberry pi. I watched a tv show I had (from a usb stick plugged into the pi) in h.264 (m4v) and it ran well, no skips or artifacts.

For comparison, I tried watching the same video file on my PS3. I noticed that the PS3 produced a sharper image.

Can anyone explain why the PS3 would produce a better image? ie. is the RasPi just too slow? Software not good enough? Does anyone else get a sharper picture with their PS3?

Here are a few more details on my setup:
-I chose Raspbmc on a class10 16gbSDHC card
-The h.264 file was approximately 400mb
-I used the stock Raspbmc but I did "zoom" out within the xbmc display settings to that the image fit properly on my TV
-I think I ran it at 1080p...?

Try 720p.

OK, I will do that tonight. I thought it was at 1080p, but I am not sure (just used the default settings).
