Music playback issues with Audio Engline - richhy - 2012-10-12

I have been testing the frodo alphas on my mac mini (2012 base model).
When playing back music I have an issue. When one track ends and another begins there is a little jump in the sound, it sounds like a abrupt start or something. This happens to tracks on the same album and in playlists. Is there a way in the settings to correct this?

If I use Eden this problem disappears!

Known issue and will be fixed eventually.

Toiva, thanks for your reply! I also have another problem; none of my CD cover art shows up either... All my music is kept and maintained in itunes.
In Eden most cd cover art shows up. Is this another bug?

I have just updated to Frodo beta 2 and still have the awkward jumps between tracks on albums.
This is still an unresolved bug I assume?

Don't expect a fix for frodo. We are out of audio devs since a while now and it doesn't look like they join back preor to frodo release.

Other than going back to Eden is there any workaround for this?
Using another player or something?
Xbmc is my main player for music...

if you fond any external music player shich handles the playback urls from xbmc you can use it by crafting a playercorefactory.xml or what its called (search the wiki).

Ok, thanks Memphiz. I'll look into it!
A real pity that music playback will have the major bug in Frodo.

I dont want to start another thread for the audio engine issues with Frodo (if indeed this is) but there is no sound coming out at all when I play music but sound is working for everything else.

It would probably be best to start a new thread for that. I wouldn't worry too much about not starting too many threads about issues, since the whole point of the betas are to help flush out bugs Smile

is this really not going to be fixed in frodo?

Our choices are make everyone wait for who knows how many months for a fix and Frodo release, or release Frodo and then fix this later when we can. Same amount of wait time for those looking for a fix to this issue.

AudioEngine is a complicated part of XBMC, and not all the developers are even able to work on it (which isn't to say they wouldn't be able to learn, if they had an endless amount of time, but people have jobs and lives and such). It sucks to have a regression for a major release, but it's just one of those growing pains. In the long run we'll be better off.

RE: Music playback issues with Audio Engline - tom1502 - 2012-12-20

hm well, i fully understand that, but its really sad to hear as because of this, frodo is definitely not an option for me yet. Have there been changes to the audio engine made between frodo and eden? eden works perfect for me with regards to music...

please be assured, that all the hard dev' work is highly appreciated!!!

cheers,
tom

RE: Music playback issues with Audio Engline - Ned Scott - 2012-12-20

AudioEngine (wiki) itself is brand new for Frodo. Eden uses old audio code that has been patched up and tweaked since the old Xbox days.

If music is your main use for XBMC, then Eden will likely be the better option for Mac OS X users for the time being.
