Paying someone to build my HTPC - jbsmart44 - 2012-10-25

Does anyone know where i can go to get someone to build my HTPC for me. I really want a custom build but don't want to do the work myself.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

You can contact http://www.ecosmartpc.com/ if you just need the hardware and don't mind doing the software yourself.

If you need it full configured, software and all then contact: http://assassinhtpc.com/.

There's also very good resources here to help you if you decide to DIY.

Would suggest advertising that you would like to buy some else's pre configured HTPC already running. Put out $500 as an offer and someone will bite. If I dumped all my pictures off mine, and totaled up the cost of of PC, HDMI video card, video capture tuner card, remote control on Windows 7, that's about my price. Plus you get all those movies that need to be erased.

Are the ecosmartpc's compatible with OpenELEC/XBMCbuntu? Am I likely to have trouble with Linux compatibility?

Also, it doesn't look like you offer a model with Nvidia graphics as an upgrade, is that correct? Is that something I should worry about?

For Llano/Intel OpenELEC/XMBCbuntu compatibility this is a good forum to ask those questions -- what user's experiences with those platforms have been. I know I've read there's good Intel drivers for Linux builds. I don't have OpenELEC experience myself. I am a Windows guy and know XBMC runs well on Llano, Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge. The community here has a lot of experience however.

If you want a custom configuration (e.g. a GT520 added to an E-i7 barebones or a Fusion E-350 motherboard for OpenELEC) you can contact [email protected]. There a little blurb on all those pages directing you there if you're looking for something you don't see there.

The pulsebox looks good but its missing some hard drive space.

With the ecosmartpcs I don't understand what it doesn't come with. Can anyone help me understand that? I am extremely new to all of this so please excuse my ignorance.

You can get a prebuilt and ready for XBMC out of the box from here- MitxPC....or this prebuilt with i3+HD7570+W7 $499, and it is ready for XBMC out of the box....the case is smaller than most Micro-ATX HTPC cases...

Barebones PCs usually don't include the RAM, hard/solid-state drive and operating system/software. If you add the RAM it will be installed for you so then you just need to install a hard drive or SSD and the operating system/software. Everything else is assembled, hooked up and tested in the case. So, it's a partially built PC. But, like I said, if you contact them they can do more than what's shown on the site depending on what your needs are.

I tested one of the latest betas... Sound worked w/o asound modding etc, I believe
