Ambient Lighting Noob - zippenpipper - 2012-12-05

I have a 50" tv, will 50 LEDs adequately cover that area? Here is my current list of things to buy:

http://adafruit.com/products/322

http://adafruit.com/products/50

and a USB cable. Will that be sufficient? I am running windows 7.

Are there any easier to follow tutorials than this one:

and can I purchase my materials cheaper than this?

Thank you for all the help.

you would need at least 100 leds for your tv size and check www.aliexpress.com, there you can find leds cheaper.

At aliexpress you can buy 2x50 led strands for the same price as 25 leds at adafruit. I have 100 leds for my 55" TV. You can find cheap DC adapter too.
At ebay you can buy a Arduino Nano for about $10-15 including shipping. You don't need a Arduino Uno to build this.

Can anyone recommend me a reasonable 100 LED selection + power supply? There is such a huge selection on Aliexpress and I dont really know what I am looking for.

Additionally, is this a good place to order an Arduino Nano?

So PSU, USB Cable, 100 LEDS and the arduino nano? Is that absolutely everything I will need for this project?
