No problem. You're welcome. You don't have to do anything except put the .xml file in your userdata folder. XBMC looks for this automatically. The rules you put in the advancedsettings.xml will supersede all other settings. Just to be sure that XBMC is accepting your settings, you can exe XBMC, then exit. After that, open your log file. You should find some lines that clearly state that the xml has been read. You will also see an error right after that if XBMC had any problem with the file. Let me know how it works. Another easy way to tell is to change the value of the algorithmdirtyregions to 1 instead of 3. When I do this the UI in XBMC goes nutty. Good luck. Please let me know.

www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox/update_MX_20130326.zip Firmware
Downlload and don't unzip, copy to SD card or USB disk, connect to the box and run upgrade->local update, select the SPI file to update first, after finished, it will restart the box, then, do the same steps to update the firmware, and XBMC is still xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20130223.apk.

Above is a new firmware for Geniatech's dual core box, it fixed 4:3/16:9 aspect ratio and android bar problems of XBMC.

hi, I installed the 20130326 firmware with the 20130223 XBMC version.

In https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qi1qj14cmz9k4pm/a5IEPl03fc I saved an mp4 video for the resolutions tests and some resulting pictures.
In android setup I selected 1080p50 video resolution.

The mp4 played with XBMC is played with the correct aspect ratio but still it is a 720p upscaled to 1080p: it is not a real full 1080p view as played with the android videoplayer (see pictures).
Then, I made a test modifying the system/build.prop file changing ro.platform.has.1080scale=1

Now, the mp4 played with the xbmc with “real size” (not normal), the image appears with a full 1080p resolution and the correct dimension, but completely shifted off-center (see picture).

Has anyone done tests like this, and maybe know how to fix android or xbmc to see full 1080p with xbmc with a “centered” image?

Thanks in advance!
julio

i'm having trouble updating to 20130326 I followed the instructions from here

http://www.geniatech.com/news/mx-atv1200-atv520-android-4.1-20130115-upgrading-instruction.asp

my current version is 20130115

i downloaded the 2 updates from who cares post
changed the extensions from.zip to .img

I do the local upgrade for the spi one first, but when it reboots it doesn't do the upgrade
it says upgrade failed
then from the boot menu I try to apply update manually but it doesn't see my usb stick
tried another usb stick to make sure it wasn't the stick but same problem
also did a factory reset but same problem

its reading the usb stick ok in android

anybody any ideas?

Try doing it without changing the extension. I left it as .zip and it worked fine.

tried leaving as .zip at first same problem,
the extension of the file shouldn't make any difference to the box sees the usb in the boot menu

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - theINSKIP - 2013-04-03

Strange. I just used the upgrade app, and selected local update and followed the instructions.

I had the same thing with 16 Gb SD-card. Then I used a 4 Gb SD card and USB reader and the update went well.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - dmartins13 - 2013-04-03

So I updated to latest firmware (the chinese one) and installed xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-2013-03-03-full-neon-xaf-set_top-3ebaf29c3f8c60d761e49c57312c60d82fe9391c

This seems to work pretty nicely. No aspect problems, streams are ok especially off freeprojecttv. When I installed that xbmc version, it allowed me to choose on startup whether to go straight to xbmc.

The only issue that is really bugging me is that i get screen flicker/cut out occasionally for about a second. tried changing the hdmi and now thinking it might be something to do with power management?

Ideas?

But, how do you use xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-2013-03-03-full-neon-xaf-set_top with video hardware acceleration in atv1200 ?
Please, link to the chinese firmware are you using.

Upgraded to this one today.. Working smoothly.
Haven't had time to play with XBMC builds on it but was streaming off PPTV most of the day..
Not sure if it was the box or the network.. Seemed to encounter the ethernet problem after about 2 hours where the stream was caught up.
Switched out to wifi and ran the same stream for a while.. Then switched back to ethernet and no problems.. Maybe a net problem and or that old bug is still hanging round..
Overall zippy as hell but I am also running the Seeder app to keep the Random Entropy up to 4096.
We can clock up to 1512mhz and change out to performance governor but min seems to be locked in at 48mhz which seems a bit low.
But with that being said.. It shows that it actually sits down between 72mhz & 336mhz on low loads.

Navigation buttons are back plus a new screen shot one..
I also noticed in settings there is a new EASYLINK option.. Maybe some like a new remote control app or airplay?
Anyone got info on it?

i just installed that firmware then the xbmc I mentioned. I'm sure there is a new nightly build though.

Still getting flickering but I think that's the box.

Are you using the "update_Mygica_20130329.img" firmware?
What do you mean when you say "still getting flickering" , are you able to get XBMC smooth play with hardware decoding? What about the real 1080p play (not upscaled form 720p) ?

thanks

EASYLINK option is for CEC.

Your picture shows you are using 480P, not 480i. You should choose 480i for CVBS.
