Can you be a more specific about which xbmc apk you are suing which is working well?

so you are still on the mygica firmware, but just not using the xbmc that came with it?

much appreciated Smile

Could be useful for everyone to use the collaborative sheet for each test:

nice idea. do you think we could have the nick/username box with a nice green background or something (if all the answers from that person were positive. so we can see at a glance who has had a perfect result?

Yes, that is a good idea. Agree!

Sorry I should have done that originally. I tried the Mygica firmware linked in post #460 which was the one that I had issues with (XBMC had trouble playing any videos, even SD videos). Since that was not working I reverted back to the Geniatech firmware after trying to uninstall and reinstall XBMC (which did not solve the problem).

The firmware that is working well for me is the latest Geniatech one I linked in post #456 which seems to be what most people are using right now. They are both versions of 20130326 but whatever minor changes Mygica made to the Geniatech firmware did not sit well with my machine.

Quote:There is a new firmware available Mygica:
http://www.mygica.es/firm-mygica-mx.html

I compared this with that of Geniatech update (20130326) and it seems the Mygica is based on that of Geniatech (20130326). At least that is what it seems if you looking at the build.prop file in system, which has only 3 changes (Geniatech vs. Mygica):
- const.window.w=1920 vs const.window.w=1280
- const.window.h=1080 vs const.window.h=720
- online.ip=http://www.geniatech.net/down-eng/upgrade/stvmx_1080p/ vs online.ip=http://www.geniatech.net/down-eng/upgrade/stvmx/

They change some minor preinstalled applications. Furthermore, they change Settings.apk, VideoPlayer.apk and libandroid_runtime.so.

The Mygica firmware contains the xbmc 020113 (perhaps of 20130102 ). And an application that can be very well: DirectoryBind (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthre...=1410262).

So it seems that Mygica customizing not bring big changes.

Has anyone been in contact with Geniatech regarding the ethernet dropout issue with 1080p videos? I experienced it for the first time last night and it is rather annoying. I had to reboot the box to regain connection. Strange thing is my streaming stopped first but I was still able to control the box via my phone for about 3-4 minutes, then I was unable to do that either so I had to reboot.

One other thing... I can confirm that this box is awesome in that it outputs to HDMI and component video at the same time, while also outputting audio to both HDMI and digital coax and stereo audio at the same time. Unfortunately the limitation is in XBMC (as far as I can tell) in that you have to choose either analog or digital audio. If you choose 2.0 audio, analog, then sound works on all devices at the same time, but if you choose a surround sound format such as 5.1 audio then sound will only work correctly through the digital outputs. Im going to mess with this some more to see if I can get surround sound audio to the digital outputs and stereo audio to the analog outputs at the same time. I may be the only person in the world that can make use of this though... ha.

Is there a place we can make an ATV1200 Wiki? Might be helpful if anyone can update it and sort of create a go to place for finding the latest firmware and quick tweaks to solve issues, rather than having to read this 500 post thread...

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - thebearnecessit - 2013-04-25

so according to the spreadsheet cabbagehead is the closest to having perfect results with this box.

all of his answers in the spreadsheet were positive.

but from what i can see i don't think he was using hdmi sound.

and the very next user was using the same combination of firmware and xbmc version and said stereo sound was fine, but no DTS and no dolby.

so not sure if HDMI sound works or not with the setup combination these users were using?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - snoopy78 - 2013-04-25

hello,

i don't know who changed my entry.

When i stream movies via SMB from my nas (DS-1812+) everything works well, audio output primary via TosLink to my 5.1 system is fine.
As my beamer only displays 720p it's set to 720p. HDMI audio on my beamer is fine too.

There were only 1 issues i have encountered:
- PVR Addon -> DVBViewer
--> when watching HDTV channels in 1080i SOMETIMES it stocks (looks like the buffer is full) and starts again after abt 1-2 sec

- also SOMETIMES when using PVR plugin the device is reacting slow to my keyboard entries.

Quick question for those more experienced with this... what is the process for backing up your apps/settings before installing the new firmware so that you dont have to reinstall each app etc every time?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - jalterach - 2013-04-27

I made the following DTS and Dolby audio test:

Android firmware version V.1.03.04MX01_20130326

Files used
http://www.dvdloc8.com/dolbydtsclip.php?clipid=1
http://www.dvdloc8.com/dolbydtsclip.php?clipid=3

Standard android Videoplayer 1.73 to play the files via usb.
Android audio setup: Spdif passthrough or hdmi passthrough

Result of the test: only noise via spdif or hdmi.

If I use the Android digital audio output setup: PCM, the audio is OK but it is not dolby or DTS, only stereo!

Someone has verified these problems?

Thanks

Hello thebearnecessit,
I need and would like to use your scripts. But I dont really now how to. Would you please give me directions?Appreciated.Thank you.

(2013-03-17, 21:29)thebearnecessit Wrote: with the atv1200 xbmc sometimes forgets skin and skin settings. this doesn't seem to effect most atv1200 users but it effect some of us for some reason!

but i find if i exit the xbmc app before powering the unit off then i dont get the problem. and i also DON'T have xbmc setup to start automatically with android on startup.

but if it does happen to you regularly then i have two scripts that can help you to recover your old settings:

script 1) backs up the two files that xbmc needs in order to remember your skin and skin settings
script 2) copies your two backed up files into the xbmc folder so that all your skin and skin settings are remembered

here is what script 1 looks like:
cp /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/guisettings.xml /storage/sdcard0/stuff/
cp /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/profiles.xml /storage/sdcard0/stuff/

here is what script 2 looks like:
cp /sdcard/stuff/guisettings.xml /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/
cp /sdcard/stuff/profiles.xml /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/

if anyone wants to use these scripts but isn't surre how then just post a message in this thread and i can try to help.

NOTE1: the system relies on you remembering to close xbmc and run script 2 every time you make skin changes. then you only ever need script 1 when xbmc forgets your settings.

NOTE2: the sdcard is called different things in each script. its not a typo, its just the only way i found it would work on my box.
