Do you use a USB connected harddisk? Which filesystem do you use? NTFS?
I learned that for the Raspberry Pi the filesystem of the USB connected HD makes a big difference because NTFS stresses the CPU much more than ext3 or ext4.
I assume that this is valid for the more powerfull Android devices as the ATV1200 as well in general.
Question is if this might explain issues with the video playback...
I am using NTFS.

I am using USB drives and network drives in an HP microserver to play media. Plays faultlessly from both, most of my content is SD, but no problems with 720P and 1080P both locally and over the network. Hard drives are all formatted to NTFS.
These are the steps I took to set mine up.
Install the latest Geniatech Firmware

Rename the zip files to img files and copy them to SD card. Boot the box with SD card inserted and with the small recessed button on the back pressed in. Update the SP1 file first.
Uninstall the XBMC software that comes with the Geniatech firmware and install the Pivos one.

Install XBMC addon repositories using Fusion

If you have a large XBMC database, its a good idea to move the userdata folder from the internal memory on the box to an external SD card. To do this use an app called directorybind.

Hi,
i am trying to connect mutiple usb-hdds to my new atv1200 and using them in XMBC.
My problem is:
After restarts/turning the hdds off an on again they are always mounted under a different mount point and xmbc can't play the files.
How can I get them to mount at a specific mount point or is there another easy way to get multiple hdds to work with xmbc?
Hope you guys can help me out.

You can try with Paragon NTFS.

I tried it and i can set it manually with paragon each time i connect a usb-hdd or turn the tv-box on...

And with the same name...
They are mounted automatically, the only problem is that they are always mounted at another mount point, e.g. the action-movie-hdd is one time mounted under sda1 and another time under sdb1.
Using Paragon they are now one time mounted under sdcard0/paragonNTFS and another tim as ...paragonNTFS_1
Because of this XBMC doesn't know where to look for the movies...

Hoping to get some assistance.
I have managed to get the new firmware running but couldn't get any of the plugins working on the xbmc provided with the Geniatech firmware so I tried the pivos xbmc.
Had a lot better luck with this version of xbmc. Got most of the plugins I wanted to work but I am having a hard time getting realhulu via fusion to work. Keep getting a script error, Has anybody managed to get realhulu working on the pivos xbmc?
The only other issue I have is with streaming large (+10gb) mkv files from the windows network on either xbmc or the mx player. The files starts to play instantly and smoothly but start buffering for a short period every couple of minutes.
Would sharing folders via NFS be a better option than using SMB?
Has anybody found a successful method to play large files over the network on this box?

I've had no problems with large files but I'm using gigabit ethernet.
If you're on wifi, even my laptop struggles with some high bitrate HD films with 802.11N wifi.

I'm on gigabit ethernet as well but I'm also having problems with MKV files. The file will play smoothly for about 10-15 mins before the connection drops. This box is good but still needs some tweaks.

someone above said they had better ethernet performance after setting up android with a static IP address.
someone else tried it and said they still had issues.
might be worth a go.
im happy with using wireless.
