to make dvd covers, album covers etc appear quickly:

buy a fast sdcard and configure xbmc to store all its thumbnails on the sdcard.

how to configure xbmc:

add an advancedsettings.xml file to the userdata folder with the following text in the file:

<advancedsettings>
<pathsubstitution>
<substitute>
<from>special://profile/Thumbnails/</from>
<to>/sdcard/external_sdcard/xbmc/Thumbnails/</to>
</substitute>
</pathsubstitution>
</advancedsettings>

NB the <to> line can be any folder you have made on the sdcard

Thanks for the tip.

I'm having a few problems with my ATV1200. XBMC crashes a lot, usually when I'm browsing my library. Also, when its connected to my surround sound it doesn't seem to come out of all the speakers.

I tried the media player that came installed on the box, and during the movie the colours kept changing. It would look like there was a green tinge to everything, and then it would go away.

I installed XBMC to watch an episode of SHIELD, and blocks of purple would occasionally be visible on the image.

Hi Guys
I have a sumvision X2 Cyclone which is a re badged geniatech ATV 1200 from what i've read.
I tried to reflash it using the geniatech image, and all i get is a red light with blinking orange - Bad FlashHuh

Anyway, Sumvision don't have a forum, so was wondering if anyone can help me recover it?

I appreciate any help.

New firmware (20130928):

Wish they would release the changelog for these !

Tell me; what is the best way of keeping XBMC perfect when upgrading ? I back up to memory card, and then restore from that. But before that, i need to set up 'fusion' to get the back up app back.

Is there a easier way ?

I installed the new firmware and it seems to be OK. I'm not exactly sure what has changed. It does include two new launchers, one Chinese and another Gica one. Both are kind of horrible, so I installed Apex straight away.

XBMC kept all my settings, but I had a lot of problems getting the 1Channel addon to work. It was slow to load, and I'd get a lot of error messages. I might delete it and try again. Can someone please recommend a stable XBMC app?

I tried to play a flash video in the browser and the thing went crazy. Pink and green lines everywhere and then the box crashed. I tried it again without any problems, so maybe it was a one time thing

Only cosmetic changes plus domestic creativity MyGica (compared with the latest firmware from Geniatech).

This is working really well for me. A lot faster then the one that came with the latest firmware. I haven't tested 1080p videos yet, but will check this week.

My keyboard seems to go crazy in the latest update. It will move up and down for no reason, and other times doesn't respond when typing. The keyboard i'm using is via an IR USB attachment. Could the firmware be causing the problem, or is it time to invest in another keyboard?

themighty: I had this problem with colours today but in XBMC from Geniatech May FW, video freeze at about 50-60 minutes and then it played with this strange colour shifts

mafiasilk: can you access recovery menu by starting your box with pen pushing the recovery button at the back of the box? there is no sumvision forum but you can register your box and contact support via email

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - themighty - 2013-10-20

I watched a 1080p movie with the new pivos night build with hardly any problems. XBMC crashed once during playback, about an hour in, but I was able to get the film started again quickly. Playback was smooth, with no stutter from the DTS audio.

I need to buy another box for XBMC, and I'm still not sure what to buy. I connect the device to my surround sound, so it needs to have optical audio like this box. Should I just get the ATV1200, or are there better android boxes out there for XBMC? My problems with the WiFi not connecting when the box is one room away is the only thing thats stopping my buying one right this second.

sounds good. To me its the best android box for xmbc at the moment. I tested some others, they all kinda sucked.

am i correct in assuming that the cyclone x2 by sumvision can also be flashed with this rom / firmware?
Thanks

The XBMC on my atv520 cannot run rmvb files. Can anybody else confirm this?

Hi there,

I am thinking about buying this Box (ATV1200) or ATV1600 (mygica support says it will be ready at xmas @amazon.de).

Has anyone tried to use the LiveTV Plugin with an HD MPEG-2 (1080p) Stream?

I want to use this box to stream a DVB-S2 Signal from my Server to my living Room

Server with DVB Viewer and 2 DVB-S2 Cards------------->Gigabit LAN -------------->ATV 1200 with LiveTV -------HDMI---------->TV

I have only found out, that h264 files are accelerated, but whats about TS Files or normal HD Mpeg2?

Regards
