but it still too obscure....

you say its "too obscure" and "not for consumer houses". what makes you think that?

I am reasonably experienced with computers and a friend has asked me to get him and android box for xbmc, skype and spotify. You say its not for consumers but if i set the box up to be ready for him do you think that would be ok?

I disagree. Granted it doesn't really have a case or an included remote, but the software is still the same, if not better.

Quote:UPDATE (18.01.2013): Latest firmware -20130115, and latest Pivos apk -010813 work perfectly together. I can recommend the box to anyone now - the only thing missing is NFS support for the kernel.

Im getting stutter free playback of 1080p mkv's now :-)

However, for some reason, the only res option available in xbmc is 1280x672Huh I cant cahnge it. My TV says the signal is 1080@60, and the settings on the ATV1200 say its 1080, but XBMC does not have any other options...

Any ideas??

The best explanation I've come across is in the second post of the thread
http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2341

executive summary Smile - video gets out at 1080p, while the UI is rendered at 720p, upscaled to 1080p on out
I've tried changing it but all that I managed is getting UI in 1080p upscaled once more- you just get a part of the screen visible (left upper part)

anyway since I now know that video gets out at 1080p I dont mind the UI beeing rendered at 720p

gui != display res. how many times do I have to repeat that Smile

some questions... got the atv1200 as of today, installed the latest firmware and the Pivos apk -010813. my android is set up as 1080p, the options of xbmc just give me 1280x720 somehow? is there any way to adjust this? and somehow there are a feq options missing, like adjust refresh rate, sync refresh rate to movie etc.... are those not available for the android version? and how can i set up smooth 24hz playback then?

No, no, no, and no. You are Android and Android owns those settings.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - FattyMcDirty - 2013-01-24

so there'S no stable 24hz playback possibleHuh or how can i get that android to 1080/24?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - Memphiz - 2013-01-24

Depends on your tv - not all tvs need to switch to 24hz for playing back smoothly. But i guess you wanted to know if XBMC is able to switch the refreshrate of the tv - well its not atm and i'm even unsure if android allows this (i bet no - android is not that good from the coders perspective Wink ).

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - FattyMcDirty - 2013-01-24

well... it's stuttering at 1080/60 so i guess yeah... and in android options, theres no way of selecting 1080/24, only 1080/50 and 1080/60 - can i force the box to output 24hz somehow?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - theINSKIP - 2013-01-24

Hi, I have just got the atv1200 and during the set up I selected the option to always boot to a screen with pictures of a tv, headphones, andriod robot, etc... I want it to boot to the normal jellybean lay out.

Where is the option to do this ?

It also defaults to this when I click home ?

Thanks for all your help with XBMC. I have installed the pivots build and all seems fine (so far)

- aspect ratio (same problem as pivos-xbmc)
- video-addons problem - > doesn´t work (working in pivos-xbmc)

Xardos,

1) any news on your sound problem?

I am looking for an android box to setup for a friend. can you recommend this box? It is your sound problem experience that is putting me off it. I might go for the safe option and get a pivos xios if your sound is still not working.

2) hat is this that you mention about video addons not working? are the video addons that we do not speak off (the xbmchub addons) not working at all?

3) I am thinking of getting the MYGica ATV1200, does anyone know if the firmware and xbmc.apk's released by geniatech definately work on the MyGica boxes?

1) Unfortunately i have still no news. Reason of my problem is my Pioneer AVR, or, to be more precise, the missing "streamsilence" parameter support for advancedsettings.xml since Frodo rc. It seems as if you do have a AVR by Sony o. Yamaha, you don´t have to expect this problem.

2) the xbmc-video-addons aren´t working in Geniatech-xbmc-version only. In pivos-xbmc work the addons flawless.

3) It appears, Geniatech is anxious to offer a very good support. Email-questions will be answered within 2-3 days. There is meanwhile the 3rd Firmware released. I would say, the last firmware has already very good performance characteristics. Only a few things must be optimized. Currently is the pivos-xbmc the better version, the aspect-ratio-problem is probably the most unpleasing fault. (you can solve this by editing attributes, but this settings are resettet after restart)

4) my opinion: I let myself become infected by android-stick-hype. I bought a MK802 (very slow), i bought a MK808 - i was disappointing by having compromises each time (to slow, asynchronous, crashes, wrong powersupplys, no passtrough etc.). Support by stick-developers was not available. Every week was a new (much better with much faster cpu) stick/box advertised. I had no desire to further experiments...
I know, that AML8726 is supported by xbmc-team. I know, hdmi/spdif passtrough is really supported by Geniatech. Geniatech is the developer for many similar brands. I think, it is a short question of time, then will xbmc run perfectly. I bought the ATV1200 and i mean, that was the right decision.

withouth 1080p/24p this box somehow doesn't make sense for xbmc... there HAS to be a way to force android to tune to this res....?!

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - Xardos - 2013-01-24

I can´t detect stutter at 1080p/50... it looks very smooth

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - pippo_piggy - 2013-01-25

I have no luck on my ATV1200 + XBMC.

Latest firmware -20130115, and latest Pivos apk -010813: XBMC fails to open any video format (avi, rmvb) except .mkv

Latest firmware -20130115, and latest Geniatech xbmc apk: XBMC hangs after 30 mins for any video (mkv, avi, rmvb).
