New OpenELEC box, a few problems - Billzilla - 2013-01-04

Just managed to get my new OpenELEC box working this morning and it's mostly fine but I don't know much about how to set up the tricky stuff and I'm having problems.
The hardware is -
Motherboard - ASRock H77M ITX
CPU - Intel CORE i3 3220
RAM - 8gb
SSD - SanDisk 64G SSD
Tuner video card - Hauppauge HVR-2210

The two main problems at the moment are that I don't think OE is detecting the Hauppauge TV card as I can't get any live TV working (antenna is plugged in) and there's no sound.
No idea how to make the TV card work, I need big help with that please. I've installed the PVR front end thingies but they don't work because the TV card isn't working.

With the sound, it's set for HDMI (using an HDMI cable from the motherboard output to the telly) and everything appears to be set otherwise correctly. But there's no sound at all.

Help please!!!

Edit - I'm using OpenELEC 2.0 generic

For PVR functionality you need to have a recording backend like tvheadend or mythtv.

What is your audio output device set to?

Okay fixed the audio but the PVR stuff still isn't working.

Got tvheadend installed and running, and also mediaportal but that keeps on popping up error messages (Communication Error, that sound right?)
In the set-up section where there's a line for 'scanning channels', that is greyed-out so it can't be selected.
Now using OpenELEC 3.0 (RC 1)

RE: New OpenELEC box, a few problems - Billzilla - 2013-01-05

I've found why it's not working, the answer is (mostly) here -
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR/Backend/Tvheadend

When I open my browser to http://192.168.0.12:9981/extjs.html the page for setting it up loads just fine but the TV ADAPTERS box is blank.
I've got no idea how to fix that, despite doing a bit more reading.

Heeeeeelllp!

On advice from the OpenELEC forum I used Putty to get some information. Here it is ...

Does any of that help?

Would a later version of tvheadend help? The version that came with OpenELEC is 1.6 something, the latest version is 3.2 something.

RE: New OpenELEC box, a few problems - nickr - 2013-01-06

That looks like the right permissions and so forth. You do realise in the tvheadend config web page that TV Adapters is a drop down box that looks empty until you click on it?

Yes, done that but no adapter appears for me to select.

edit - That's weird .... tvheadend reports itself as version 3.2.18 using the browser interface but 1.6 something on the actual box itself.

RE: New OpenELEC box, a few problems - Billzilla - 2013-01-06

Would it be worth trying pulling the Hauppauge tuner card out, starting the box & run it for a while, then put the card back in to see if it gets detected?

I tried that, no difference.

Please guys, I really need this thing to work!

RE: New OpenELEC box, a few problems - Billzilla - 2013-01-06

How about I try the 'Generic OSS build' version?
http://releases.openelec.tv/OpenELEC-Generic_OSS.i386-2.99.1.tar.bz2

RE: New OpenELEC box, a few problems - nickr - 2013-01-06

Look if your problem is with openelec then maybe you should be in their forums. tvheadend is not part of xbmc. You could also try the tvheadend forums.
