Video lag - Asocial - 2013-01-18

Hi!
Recently 1080p and also 720p but not so much have started lagging for me on my htpc runnin' xbmcbuntu RC3. I feel like I've tried everything.. Trying diffrent computers to stream from, connect a network cable, installed DD-WRT on my router changing wifi channels and probably something more too. But I just can't understand why something that works perfectly fine stars doing this.. I also lose audio for a few seconds on videos who works fine.

What kind of system are you running? Gigabit LAN? Wireless N? Is the video just choppy or does it keep buffering? Are you streaming full blu ray rips (20gig+) or compressed (10gig-ish)?

I've tried both wireless and with wire.
Mostly it's just choppy but sometimes it's just buffering. I stream compressed 1080p (10gig-ish)

RE: Video lag - wsnipex - 2013-01-29

do you run an xvba enabled version? and we need a debug log

RE: Video lag - Asocial - 2013-01-29

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=31081 I hope this says something. I've never saved a debug log before.
I've tried to figure out what "xvba" is but I don't get it.
I'm not a superstar when it comes to computers..

RE: Video lag - wsnipex - 2013-01-29

Xvba is AMDs hardware video decoding, it is needed for playback of HD video as your CPU alone can not handle it.

The Xbmc version you are running does not support it, thats why it lags.
run this in a terminal:

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:team-xbmc/unstable
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba-frodo
sudo apt-get remove xbmc xbmc-bin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-bin

Hello.
Somehow I still have the same problem so I'm hoping someone can take a look at my log.

I got a crash log too: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=32627

RE: Video lag - wsnipex - 2013-02-04

you're not playing any video in that log.

RE: Video lag - Asocial - 2013-02-04

Sorry.. I hope you can see something in this one. I don't really know what I'm doing here as you can see Tongue

RE: Video lag - wsnipex - 2013-02-04

you are still running mainline xbmc(from the nightly ppa) that does not have Xvba support.

RE: Video lag - Asocial - 2013-02-04

Hmm ok. I did the code thing again but the same result. Is it something I'm missing?

RE: Video lag - wsnipex - 2013-02-04

apt-cache policy xbmc

as I said, remove the nightly ppa, remove and reinstall xbmc
