Go to Videos and then Add Source (Or Add Videos) then browse for the USB Drive, find the folder you want, then set the content to movies and let it scan and scrape.

Hi
Are you plugging the HD directly into the pi or a powered hub?

Disto
"Distro may refer to: Linux distribution, a specific vendor's package of the GNU/Linux operating system; Software distro, a set of software components"
So basically what Distro of xbmc are you using

i am using the latest version of xbmc i guess i installed on the pi using raspbmc

Hi
Ok there go's that theory Smile ..(your using a hub)
Maybe try this http://raspi.tv/2012/how-to-mount-and-use-a-usb-hard-disk-with-the-raspberry-pi
but...... as said above by danmedhurst...... assuming its formatted fine then the drive should be usable using the add source function inside xbmc..the drive should show up in /media/usb0
