Random episode background not so random - Algorithmic - 2013-04-07
Hi,
I'm trying to set my TV menu so that a random episodes image will be displayed each time I hover over it. I set it to random episode through the customiser but it only displays one TV shows background every time I'm on TV menu.
I added a season of High School of the Dead and now it only shows the background for that show, rather than randomising through the other TV shows I have added.
It almost seems to me as though random is acting as latest.
How might I fix this?

I have set my TV Show item menu to display Random Episodes for Background and everything is OK for me :

Is that all you did? It's simply not working for me. It just shows Highschool of the Dead backgrounds and that's it...

Ok this is ridiculous. I removed Highschool of the Dead and I still only got one Highschool of the Dead background...

Did you restart XBMC after remove "Highschool of the Ded" TV show ?
All this kind of stuff is provide by service.skin.widgets script and this script is run when XBMC start.
So, you need to enable "Always randomize Random Widget Items" to refresh script every time you return to Home menu :
System > Skin settings > Customizers > Main menu item customizer
Press UP to display General options

Ahhh! That helps! It wasn't ticked, but now I get a script failed randomandlastitems.py message.

Could you paste your log file on xbmclogs.com and give us the URL after pressing Paste button.

Turns out I had to go to widget settings and untick use only unwatched TV show backgrounds under random.
I'm still getting that randomandlastitems.py error message, but my backgrounds are rotating now.

I think that you don't have the latest randomandlastitem script release.
Because you have an issue with RunningTime property and script is sending RunTime property.
You can download latest release from GITHUB :
https://github.com/XBMC-Addons/script.randomandlastitems
Extract the files and override \addons\script.randomandlastitems\ files.
Let me know if your issue is fixed or not.

I unfortunately don't see the +/- option, perhaps I'm too new to the forum to do so or something?
I have one more question, if you wouldn't mind. Do you know if it's possible to set the background to be extra fan art rather than the one I set under the TV show settings?
I can see I can set that when I go into the TV show menu for each show in my list, but not the TV SHOWS option in the main menu.
