Subtitles look terrible after "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" set - sufreak - 2013-04-13

I have a old Philips LCD TV which I'm sure has a 60 Mhz refresh rate. I am running OpenElec on an Acer Revo 3610, which shows the refresh rate as 30 mhz. (I can't set it to 60).

Once in a blue moon, the video turns black for a second. I turned on "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" which fixed the black screen playback issue, but subtitles look terrible. Bold and illegible. I played with subtitle settings, but can't make it work.

Is there something else I can do?

Can you take a picture of the screen for an example? Also, do you know what kind of subtitles they were? Stylized, plain, bitmap?

For reasons I can't comprehend, its working fine now. The only thing I can think of was I rebooted the system.
