Add a flag to the poster for offline content (ie, ".disc" extension).
It would be immediately noticeable instead of trying to play and getting the offline dialog.

this is not possible, cause the skin doesn't get the information from XBMC if a file is offline

I don't see why the ".disc" file extension isn't enough.

Yeah, it would work, the tedious part would be adding the flag image to all the cases in all the views I would imagine.

You might be able to decorate the existing cases like the "watched" and "new" flags. Maybe bottom-right. You could have a title as "offline" and "new".
