External HDD disappeared somehow? - faze - 2013-06-23
My external HDD disappeared somehow. I let it do the software update to update XBMC. When it came back up, my drive was gone. Tried power cycling everything, unplugging/plugging back in but nothing works. Anyone else have this? The drive is powered on and spinning but the two video folders I had are gone now.

How do you know it isn't running?
Maybe your box took a dhcp address instead of a static?
There are alot of reasons for things like this. I suggest reading to understand all of it before asking for step by step help. Or before upgrading without knowledge of the upgrade possible problems. This is not an end-user, 'buy in the store product', with ANY direct support. You use it at your own risk. There will be glitches.
A simple qoogle search brought me to loss of HD because usb's do not always mount in a consistent order, and a few other things.

As far as I can see you haven't even told us what operating system you are using.

openelec? raspbmc? there are plenty of options.
Why don't you plug a keyboard in and use the commandline on the actual RPi?

It's on Raspbmc. How do I get to the CLI once I plug in a keyboard? Will try in a few hours when I get home.
