Are you saying that PTVL is downloading different cleararts then you had in your library? I ask because for me 4.6 isn't downloading anything but what it is doing is using the fanarts that I have in my folders rather than the landscapes like it is supposed to.

I'm just curious if you are getting cleararts like you want and the problem is just that you are getting the wrong cleararts or if you are getting fanarts like I am seeing.

Wow, thats weird. It was downloading all my cleararts (none from my library, they were all being downloaded....I would compare them).....but for the posters.... When I think about it, I was thinking something was wrong because the image would be all stretched and crammed in, and wouldnt even have the name of the movie. They were most likely fanarts crammed into the poster view. I dont download fanarts from fanart.tv. I never knew where people were using them.

I had this problem too. I use Titian, but when I was having trouble with it, I went back to default (what I used before Titian). I experienced exactly what you did. I figured I had messed with some settings since I have been messing with the skins....I guess not. Not sure what would cause this though

Yeah there's definitely something off in the new artwork spooler code but I'm sure it's just a bug and Luna will fix it in an update. Weird thing is that instead of one glitch it seems like everyone is having different glitches with it. For instance mine isn't downloading any art whatsoever. In fact I'm not getting anything cached and it is just using my local fanarts instead of what the skin calls for ( landscapes) even tried multiple skins and saw the same result. Definitely strange but I'm sure easily fixable.

i started with "background update" set to Off so i can see where it is getting stuck

this time its on channel 64, entries 83 and thats it. it freeze up.


if i will remove channel 64 it will start playing but it will continue to pop up randomly on different playlists

i just ran it again and it seems that on the problematic channels it goes:

Updating channel 20
adding videos
added 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, entries

then it goes
query database
added 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 entries
query database

added 3 entries and here it will get stuck

could it be that it is having issues accessing the DB?
if i click on the playlist as a playlist there is no problem seeing everything.


should i try SMB?

Ok so I somehow finally got PTVL to install on Gotham 13.1 on another machine, so that is a bonus.

But I never could get the channel sharing option to work before, so what I used to have to do was I scraped all the media through the network into the other machines and I would copy the settings.xml and settings2.xml from the main machine as well as the playlists onto these other machines and voila it was like channel sharing but I had to manually do it. It used to work great, but now I tried to do that on the new machine and it just populated the channels itself randomly. I looked in the settings2.xml and all the custom channels I made are there, but they are not populating the way I want them to. Did I miss something I need to do now?

I have noticed one more problem, the latest update uses more system resources for me. I have a lot of freezing and buffering issues with local content and on my other machine that has its own database that connects via SMB. It gets so bad that my main machine needs to be rebooted to get the resources back. I hung in for as long as I could, but had to roll back to a more stable release that Tromy kindly provided a few pages back. I will use it till you have ironed out the bugs with the new features you have added. The natives in my house were starting to revolt...LOL

I just wanted to chime in about the fanart vs landscape thumb.

I'm glad that the new version utilizes the fanart because while 100% of my movies have fanart, only less than 20% of them have a landscape thumb.

@ARYEZ Yeah, it is weird. For now, I reverted back to an older version and it works great. Im not running with the latest bells and whistles, but even the old code for PTVL is awesome Smile Im curious if it has anything to do with the skins for xbmc we use....I honestly dont see how it would, but I do notice a change in fonts when using Confluence vs MQ5....butI know the PTVL skins use the xbmc skins fonts.xml and those can be different from confluence(MQ5 is). I doubt that the artwork has anything to do with the xbmc skin you are using though...but I dont really know what else would be different between us (and why we are having different problems)

Hi everyone. A few weeks ago, I made a post about creating a shared area where people can place channel bumpers. There was no interest, but I will create one anyway, in case in the future anyone would like it. I will place my current channel bumpers in it and will share a link later. Why am I doing this? Because the current bumper pack from Milkman--as great as it is!!!--does not contain some current channel bumpers or bumpers for some channels altogether.

@ryanmcclure - that is very kind of you. Thanks for this. I do not use bumpers but those who do will greatly appreciate it and hopefully contribute.

I spend a lot of my free time working on this plugin (more time then I care too). I understand users like to post about their issues, and i'm more then happy to help...
But lately I'm noticing more users forgetting this is a beta project and coming here to repeatedly post about something not working, with no real substance to the post other then to $hit on it (at least that's my perception).

Take for example the new Artwork system and service... it's listed as "Experimental" and can easily be disabled... yet over and over users posted comments about file size, and not finding local artwork and EPG lag!...
No logs, no relevant info! and no patience for me to work out the bugs...

I've decided to make a new branch in my repository, it's for development and will not offer support of any type. I hope this saves both of us the headache of dealing with bugs... those of you with the knowledge and ability to bare through some bugs can stay up to date using the development branch which does not self update. The rest of you will get updates when I feel the bugs have been worked out. Since I have almost zero time to test my code, updates to the "Official" branches (master & Hub) could be a week...could be a few months...

I am extremely happy to see this post. You should mention this first thing on the very first post instead of only briefly mentioning that this is a beta in one of the last lines of the 3rd post. I'm sure wont help completely but it might help some.

I agree and support your decision to do this.
I for one like to at least try the latest releases devs put out on most projects and if i am subjected to fatal bugs I would simply wait for info/fix or go back to stable(er?) build.
Now onto my main point for this post, you state you now have the dev version branch...however i cannot seem to find it on your github page am I just missing it or has it not been made yet or something?
Note I do not mean to sound impatient or offensive I am just curious is all. I see you stated that you work on this in your free time and i really like that you do so, PTVL adds such a nice function to XBMC.
