RE: Testing audio engine ActiveAE - da-anda - 2013-08-26

for anybody willing to test PR3153, here is a windows build http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win32/XBMCSetup-20130826-3806410-aefixes.exe

RE: Testing audio engine ActiveAE - da-anda - 2013-08-26

unfortunately the PR didn't fix the issue. Here is the debug log

And here is the crash log/stack trace. PDB file is on our mirrors.

RE: Testing audio engine ActiveAE - Ace - 2013-08-26

Hi, I rechecked the AudioEgine folder form current master and got two warnings (the other results are style stuff):
Code:
[Sinks\AESinkAUDIOTRACK.cpp:72]: (warning) Member variable 'CAESinkAUDIOTRACK::m_passthrough' is not initialized in the constructor.
[Sinks\AESinkWASAPI.cpp:178]: (warning) Member variable 'CAESinkWASAPI::m_lastWriteToBuffer' is not initialized in the constructor.

Since I don't know the code in detail I'm not sure if the values are properly set before use. I only wanted to share the results in case they are not.

I was able to reproduce the crash, hopefully the same one Smile I have pushed a fix to the pr.

OK.
How can I turn off ReplyGain (I like turn off any audio transformation).
I didn't find this in Music Play Setup Menu in 13.0ALPHA7.

@ray1112:
In which inverval can you see it blinking? 1 seconds, 2 seconds, 3 seconds?

Please keep "Stream silence when idle" enabled. That was done to assure your receiver stays powered.

1 seconds
Yes. I turned on "Stream silence when idle".

RE: Testing audio engine ActiveAE - fritsch - 2013-08-29

Okay, your AVR turns off in a shorter delay. E.g. we have one or two seconds too much in between of sending noise packages.

What AVR model is this?

RE: Testing audio engine ActiveAE - massa84 - 2013-08-29

hi, in all the nightly releases in the last week i've had a lot of audio problem.

when i start xbmc the applicantion sounds are ok.

when i play the movie the sound is perfect (both AC3 and DTS pass through and are correctly decoded by the "ampli").
As soon as i stop the movie and go back to the main screen the application sounds are corrupted (with active ae enabled or disabled is the same)
with activeAE when i get the corruption i also hear a cracking noise every couple of seconds. i've tried to disable and enable stream silence when idle but nothing changed.
if i go back in a movie with ac3 or dts audio the playback and the audio are perfect
if i go back in a movie with a stereo track or i play an mp3 i only hear noise

if when i'm watching the "first" movie i go back to the main menu while still playing (using esc) and then i press stop on the remote i don't get the corruption.

i'm using this spec:

cpu : i5 3225 ( gpu HD4000)
LG 47LA640 connected to PC using HDMI
Logitech z960 connected to LG TV using optical cable.

audio settings
HDMI
5.1
output ; WASAPI: LG TV (Audio Intel® per schermi)
passthroug: WASAPI: LG TV (Audio Intel® per schermi)

this system worked correctly until a week ago.
