Skin failed to load. All skins stuck?! - trickerie - 2013-09-15

Hello all,

This problem has occurred twice now. I'll install a skin, it will say that it failed to install. After that, all skins stop midway during the download process, as if canceled. They show no error messages or anything. The only way I fixed it the first time was a complete reinstall of Xbmc.

I'm using Openelec 3.2 on a 512 rasp pi over clocked with the medium factory settings.

If anyone has any insight please let me know!

Help Smile

EDIT: Other addons install without problems. This just effects skins.

Enable debug logging in XBMC, try to install a skin and when it fails, examine the debug log (wiki) to see if there's any indication as to why it failed. Also, the next time you get stuck in limbo after trying a new skin, rename your guisettings.xml file in your userdata (wiki) directory, restart XBMC and see if this restores you to the default skin (rather than reinstalling XBMC).

Thanks. But this is actually not what I'm experiencing. My problem is as follows:

1) Go to skin section of addons or "Get More."
2) Download a skin
3) Skin will say "Skin failed to install"
4) From this point on, when trying to install another skin, the skin states Downloading %x, then just stops.

Restart XBMC, no change. Click on skin->Install->Downloading %x->Skin stops downloading (as if cancelled), no error message, no freeze, nothing.

in that case delete addons15.db and restart.

No joy here. SSH'd to the PI, deleted Addons15.db, rebooted. Same effect. Go to a skin, click "install." It will download for a few % and then automatically cancel itself.

Here is the relevant portion of it, immediately after the attempt to install two skins. If you need more let me know:

Ok, thanks Martijn. This appears to have been the problem. I didn't even think of this, since I have XBMC running on a 32gb SD card with nothing but a few skins installed. Looking into it further, it only allocated a few hundred mb as storage. Any advice on this?

no idea. this is something OpenELEC takes care of.
