RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gfisher - 2013-10-08 I noticed some skips. 1080i 60fps (edit. actually 29.97) h.264 a lot and on 24p 1080p h.264 a few. What are skips vs drops when I press o. Playback is quite good. I do not remember skips on frodo gt610/fglrx on APU a4-3400. I ask in case it is the h.264 50fps limitation on my test, or my model lines need to be tweaked.. the 24fps has almost no skips at all. Only when starting off samba there are a bunch, as expected from sleeping drives. And counts go up slowly over 1/2 hour. Nothing visual noted. And I am picky about visual stuff. 8) RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 I have the feeling, that the HDMI clock is slightly drifting off. I can see this also very well on my E350, when and only when HDMI Audio is used. That's a bug for freedesktop.org - mind filing it? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - golddk - 2013-10-08 First thanks for the great work. When I compare the image quality from xvba vs vdpau, I see a much better sharpness in image quality in xvba opposite VDPAU which is more blurred and also more dark in the image and menu. Is there any explanation for this? I have an AMD E-350 RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Hibbelharry - 2013-10-08 Might be related to this: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2013-October/045811.html RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 Could also be related to Limited vs Full RGB Range. Does it get more than you are used to better when you enabled "Use Limited Range" in the Expert Settings of the Video Output? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - golddk - 2013-10-08 I can not find "Use Limited Range". I have the Settings options, Level: Advanced. I must be blind. Where exactly do I find "Use Limited Range" ? I'm using the latest version from https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-fernetmenta-master RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 System -> Settings -> System -> Video very down there. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - golddk - 2013-10-08 Thanks, found it, the picture looks better now, more bright, I will test a bit more, and look for sharpness quality RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - laric - 2013-10-08 I don't really know if my tv wants limited or full range rgb.. how can I test it correctly? Is there a way to test it? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 Watch a testpattern, e.g.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/fullrgb_test.jpg add it to your Pictures and have a look. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - golddk - 2013-10-08 Thanks for testpattern. Even with "Use Limited Range" the top two lines in testpattern is total Black, So something is wrong, any ideas? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 Check with your TV, that is a bit too dark. On .e.g my Samsung there are hdmi black level settings: Normal: Full Range Darker: Limited Range Darkest: Something shitty for those that only want to have black. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - FernetMenta - 2013-10-08 I would not assume that Mesa has already implemented entire vdpau API. Some functions like setting noise reduction or color matrix may still be stubs. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - golddk - 2013-10-08 I have a dual boot xvba / vdpau so i can test. xvba frodo https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-xvba-frodo, testpattern works fine, can see all lines vdpau gotham https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-fernetmenta-master, testpattern first 2 lines is total black My TV (Sony) is calibrated by a pro so i think somthing wrong in vdpau, somone else have same problem ? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-08 The "Pro" won't help you, when the Input format changes from Full Range ycbr ( default fglrx) to Limited Range (oss radeon). For displaying pictures vdpau is not involved at all. Btw. it also does not help to trigger that advanced option, as it scales Full rgb to limited RGB and is displayed again as Full. Two possibilities to fix that: Try to get your Radeon to Full RGB (no idea yet how to do this) b) set your TV to limited range |
