RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Questionario - 2014-03-21 (2014-03-18, 17:17)fritsch Wrote: For all those asking for 14.04, head over to: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=189553 which is the testing thread for new xbmcbuntu based on 14.04 Trusty. (2014-03-19, 10:52)fritsch Wrote: Test xbmcbuntu v13 and tell us :-) I did test it and DTS-HD works on both of them for me, I do like this "manual" version better but here are the differences I found: advantages: - this mini version boots up faster - I installed using one user and added the user xbmc later as described in the howto, this leaves xbmc user without any root rights which I like better as that user usually does not have the strongest password (xbmcbuntu uses the same user no matter what) - If something crashes it just restarts xbmc, with xbmcbuntu I often get to a login-screen disadvantages: - more difficult to install - xbmcbuntu has a nice splash-screen, here I only get to see ubuntu messages not sure what other differences/advantages/disadvantages there are but thats what I noticed right away. anyone know anything else? I guess not having a window manager has advantages and disadvantages but for me its an advantage as I have a full ubuntu install on a different partition anyhow if I really need to access it. if it would just be easy to enable/disable it to suit everyone's needs. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 Yeah, I did not post that - cause in the past, people used that one and "forced a framebuffer" which is not needed in KMS anymore. Btw. is "generous" ironic? :-) RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gradinaruvasile - 2014-03-22 (2014-03-21, 19:11)chemstar Wrote: hi fritsch, That appears to me too sometimes, but it isnt consistent. It appears predominantly with mplayer/mpv, but i havent seen it with xbmc for quite some time. Also, it appears mostly when the window isnt full screen. So its most definitely a vdpau/radeon issue. I have the video drivers and kernel compiled from git with Debian Testing 64 bit, running on a A8-6500 APU (it was the same on my previous A8-5500). RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 Logs, samples, everything helps ... RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - azrael17 - 2014-03-22 I followed the directions to install the patches and drivers over xbmcbuntu beta. While the screen tearing is not as significant as before I am still getting it. It is now tearing a couple inches from the top of the screen rather than 1/3 of the way down. All my settings have been tweaked as suggested. I just can't seem to get it working as smoothly as I had before I decided to upgrade my system. Any suggestions? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 disable backing store - will be fixed in newer xbmcbuntu, see the github commits to make these changes manually: https://github.com/xbmc/XBMCbuntu/commit/419d66e7318e09fc2be414800f74bffe67979347 Btw. what did you do? You installed all the packages over xbmcbuntu v13 beta? Lol - highly not suggested and totally unsupported. Xbmcbuntu v13 ships with everything you need concerning kernel / mesa and so on. I tried your patches over the beta and it helped somewhat but still some tearing. I also tried your instructions but I couldn't get the auto start and login to work. I just tried adding the line "+xserver-command=/usr/bin/X -bs -nolisten tcp" to /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf" but that did not help either. Is the "+" required in that code or does that just indicate that is is being added to the config file. I'm at a loss of how to deal with this tearing. I might need to downgrade to the discontinued xvba if nothing else works. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 + is not required. Yeah - then you might need to downgrade :-) RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 Could you perhaps make a little video? So that I can see the left tearing? Also an xbmc.log with debugging please. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - azrael17 - 2014-03-22 (2014-03-22, 21:43)fritsch Wrote: + is not required. Minus the + and I am minus the tearing. Won't need to downgrade. Thanks! =) RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-22 Again: ckoenig is helping is to get the "stop bug" fixed: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2014-March/056384.html Stay tuned. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - talvins - 2014-03-22 Ok, so, I absolutely don't know why, but I can't take wsnipex libvdpau1 and linux-firmware (even force it) ! apt-cache policy libvdpau1 linux-firmware libg3dvl-mesa libwayland-server0 http://pastebin.com/V4QMYTwa dpkg -l |grep mesa http://pastebin.com/8hpGu1jA Thanks. |
