RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2015-01-22 I don't need any logs - if this does not work, it won't work. Remove the switch and retry. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - m0nKeY - 2015-01-22 That would be sad... :-( What options do I have? And what exactly is the reason? I checked the files thrice. Maybe my grub cfg is wrong? Hope you don't mind if I post it: Quote:# If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update I removed the switch and copied the EDID file again. If the TV is turned off, Ubuntu tells me the HDMI source is disabled but if turn on the TV it prints enabled, but still black screen. Did I miss to install something? Greetings m0nKeY RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2015-01-23 The howto never told you to edit grub.cfg ... and yeah you try to convince an xserver to start, while the gpu has no connection to any screen .. Here, step by step: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=174854&pid=1824527#pid1824527 (written by high school teacher). RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - m0nKeY - 2015-01-23 Thx, I tried the other step by step and the result is different. Now Ubuntu tells me every time the HDMI output is enabled, but first I tried the line: Code: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi='!Windows 2012' drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=HDMI-A-1:edid/edid.bin video=HDMI-A-1:D" Then the result was that the HDMI output is enabled, but screen stayed black. Then I noticed that later, in the step by step and in the other tutorial, the last letter was "e". Updated grub again and now the screen shows something, but it was very crappy, ie wrong colors etc. I understand the problem but as I used XBMCbuntu 13.4 turning on the HTPC without TV tuned on, worked. P.S: Without "video=HDMI-A-1:e" screen stays black again. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - deltazulu - 2015-01-23 Anyone else feel like this thread needs it's whole separate forum group? so hard to find anything here. The "/etc/default/grub" file, so apparently this is not the grub cfg, but I think, you know what i meant... Why isn't it possible to force XServer to start without the EDID Information? Thought the Xsever config file gives a way to to this? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - pyrodex - 2015-01-23 Last week or two my wife and I have noticed an issue with KODI and not sure what changed that is causing it on my side. I used this guide from the beginning and have been keeping up and upgraded KODI doing the RCs to the final and didn't have the issue until recently so it's hard to think it's actually KODI 100% itself. The issue is hard to explain but it happens when we are playing a show and we see that after a few minutes of playing on both systems I have running KODI, which have identical system configurations and software setups but different A/V setups, experience the same issue. KODI will black out video and audio for a few seconds, like 1-3, but the show continues to run and to cuts back in like nothing happened and pick up where it left off. If we finish a show and start another it happens again without rebooting or anything else. I used to run Kernel 3.18.X line and went back to 3.16 with no fixes thinking the kernel was causing the issue but other than that it is a head scratcher. I've looked at the logs and I see the following lines following the issue: Code: 21:39:51 T:140281899808512 DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 41708.33, frameduration: 41708.333333 I've include more data below for reference and would appreciate any help on the matter. dmesg: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9838994/ kodi.log: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/207349/kodi.log (to large to pastebin, sorry) Xorg.0.log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9838998/ vdpauinfo: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9838999/ dpkg w/mesa: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9839000/ RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - sampras - 2015-01-28 Hi, This is a new install of 14.04, not the minimal though. so I've followed the how to in post 1 but am struggling to get my amp to be set as anything other than PCM. I'm assuming there's no need t change any settings in the system settings, the default settings for that a stereo. Also shoudl teh audio out device in system - settings be changed to Caicos HDMI Auddio [RADEON 6400 Series] or left as default audio (PULSEAUDIO). I've tried both but the output is lways pcm. I've installed the 3.16.7 kernel as in the history, post 2 uname 3.16.7-031607-generic #201410301735 SMP Thu Oct 30 17:37:43 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Here are the logs Dmesg > http://paste.ubuntu.com/9905569/ cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log > http://paste.ubuntu.com/9905571/ DISPLAY=:0 vdpauinfo > http://paste.ubuntu.com/9905579/ dpkg -l |grep mesa > http://paste.ubuntu.com/9905587/ Any help would be greatly appeciated. thanks RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - blandoon - 2015-01-28 (2015-01-07, 11:49)wsnipex Wrote:(2015-01-07, 00:38)blandoon Wrote: I'm wondering if the upstart script could be modified to launch a window manager, like openbox, and then launch Kodi afterward? Since the script uses xinit to launch, I'm not sure what the best way to do that would be. It sure does... but it doesn't work exactly as entered. If you uncomment and modify that line to run openbox, like this: Code: script ...you just get a blank window with mouse cursor, no Kodi at all. My uneducated guess is that xinit can only be invoked once, but I tried it just directly running openbox without xinit, and that didn't work either. Any ideas? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - wsnipex - 2015-01-28 correct, its either or. Comment the kodi line and use standard openbox autostart https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/openbox#autostart to launch kodi RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - s1on - 2015-02-01 Hi, first, thanks for the work you've done here. I appreciate this really . I've followed the HowTo on the first page, but got still problems with HD audio. Everything else seems fine right. While playing HD audio, there is no sound. I use the server version, 14.04. CPU: amd a5600k, fm2+ board logs, while playing DTS HD content dmesg | pastebinit http://pastebin.com/4vAUEMrL cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit http://pastebin.com/GDM03BFF cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | pastebinit http://pastebin.com/wu4V45Uv DISPLAY=:0 vdpauinfo | pastebinit http://pastebin.com/MH9Ve9yK dpkg -l |grep mesa | pastebinit http://pastebin.com/Cq1Nu6Dm Kind Regards Edit: tried already the solutions in the first post. Didnt help. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2015-02-01 Known bug - filed on bugs.freedesktop.org. For some it works with 60hz, for some it does not work at all. It's a kernel issue. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - s1on - 2015-02-01 Currently im using 3.16.2. Is the bug in all versions? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2015-02-01 In all version and not fixed anywhere upstream: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75064 RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - deadite66 - 2015-02-01 Would the latest code from agd5f for drm-next-3.20 make any difference? |
