RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - mhop - 2013-10-18 Hello, is it possible to start the howto with a normal lubuntu or xubuntu installation? I want have a desktop environment in the backround. Thanks for answers. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-18 (2013-10-18, 21:20)valdi74 Wrote: Strange problem: HDMI connected to AVR, mplayer can passthrough DTS with no problems. But in XBMC option "passthrough device" is greyed out and no sound in the movie. Interface sounds over HDMI are OK. When I connect my S/PDIF USB interface, then "passthrough device" is not greyed out and DTS sound in the movie is OK (over HDMI, not S/PDIF). I can even disconnect USB interface after starting XBMC and everything is OK. In summary: S/PDIF USB interface must be connected when XBMC is starting to get passthrough sound over HDMI. I was testing OpenELEC (live USB) - exactly the same problem. Delete ".xbmc" directory does not change anything. You have installed pulseaudio ... not subject of that howto. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-18 @mhop: You can try whatever you want. This howto here shows a working way from a minimal setup to working xbmc. Other ways are existing, but I don't support in the context of this howto. Re: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nickr - 2013-10-18 You already got your answer, but why not follow the howto then install xubuntu-desktop RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-10-19 @nickr: That will heavily interfer with the upstart script @all: We just fixed the audio drop problem with AMD gpus. The cause was that the hdmi clock did not match exact enough the video clock. I will post a new kernel tomorrow, where we will also switch to 3.12-rc5 + hd audio + lipsync preparation + audio sync fixes. This will introduce and upstart init script change, in order to get the audio enable with xrandr RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - beschmid - 2013-10-19 (2013-10-18, 17:45)locomot1f Wrote: @beshmid, @locomot1f: $ lspci VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Richland [Radeon HD 8370D] RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - beschmid - 2013-10-19 Logs for artifacts and flickering issue: dmesg - http://paste.ubuntu.com/6260473/ xbmc.log - http://paste.ubuntu.com/6260482/ Xorg.0.log - http://paste.ubuntu.com/6260486/ vdpauinfo - http://paste.ubuntu.com/6260488/ dpkg -l |grep mesa - http://paste.ubuntu.com/6260490/ RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Huuh - 2013-10-19 Hi. I just installed Xubuntu 13.10. Do the instructions on the first page change at all, or do we still have to follow those instructions exactly? RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-10-19 @ beschmid -- be sure to post this on the freedesktop.org page -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63997 you might have to create an account to post. i'm not sure how much @fritsch can help with this one. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - beschmid - 2013-10-19 @locomot1f: I just did. Do you know of any other support forums or bug reporting sites we can add to on this? I am not sleeping until I get this working RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nickr - 2013-10-19 (2013-10-19, 02:41)Huuh Wrote: Hi. I just installed Xubuntu 13.10.
